Lynn's Story

Life I am married to Jeff Sarasin and have 3 beautiful children, Chelsey, 21, Chase, 18, and Lorenzo, 13. I truly feel blessed in my life. My husband is my friend, my rock and my confidant. My children each have their own personalities, talents, etc., and I love them all unconditionally. I have truly enjoyed being a parent for 21 years and I have at least another 6 and then maybe we will have an "empty nest". That will be weird but I do welcome the day they each have their own families and we can look forward to beautiful grandchildren. Boy, they will be spoiled I know this already. My daughter, Chelsey, is due on November 14th so I am becoming a grandma. I found out right after graduation in 1982 that I was an insulin dependent diabetic. This has been a real roller coaster ride for me over the years and has caused other medical complications. I was placed on the waiting list in April 2007 for a pancreas transplant. On October 29, 2007 I had the RNY gastric bypass (stomach stapling) surgery as I had gained over 100 pounds on my insulin because of very high insulin resistance. It is amazing already in just a couple of weeks what this surgery has already improved. I only take about 10% of the insulin I did before the surgery and have completely went off the other eight medications I was on for fibromyalgia, neuropathy, high cholesterol, etc. My surgeon spoke to me after the surgery and said if this surgery does what they think it will do, I may not have to have a transplant now. I am so crossing my fingers, toes, etc. I am hoping to get my quality of life back and live it to the fullest. I have done a lot of things through the past several years such as traveling, sky diving, bungee jumping, whitewater rafting, etc. I am a very adventurous, spontaneous person who loves to have fun. My husband and I just bought a really nice motorcycle last Spring and love to ride although we didn't get to do as much riding because of my medical condition as we would have liked so next Spring.....watch out! We plan on taking some longer trips and just soaking up the sun! I would still like to make it to Hawaii and Alaska before I die. I love country music festivals and go to one or two every summer with my girlfriends. That is my getaway and my husband's getaway is in the Fall when he goes hunting Elk and Mule deer out West. Then we take our one or two family vacations also We really love living in the U.P. but love VISITING the bigger cities also and the e...Expand for more
xcitement of all the lights, etc. I have been to Las Vegas 14 times and love it! I would not want to live there but I will keep going back. There is so much more to do than just gamble there. It truly is a fun city! My husband would be perfectly happy living on top of a mountain in the middle of Wyoming but I always say, "but there's no shopping malls, honey!" We will compromise when we retire somewhere between Las Vegas and Wyoming. lol I really miss alot of my classmates that I was close to in school and I love this website for keeping in touch. It is great. I had a very good time at the "25th" class reunion this past summer (2007) and look forward to our "30th" and seeing everyone again. I can't believe it's been 25 years since graduation already. Time sure flies when you're having fun! Everyone please take care until we meet again! Love, Lynn School My absolute favorite teacher was Mr. Robert Danforth. I'll never forget the time I (with the help of Tammy Utt) put a tack on his chair and he sat on it. We were always playing "jokes" on him (because we LOVED him of course). So of course when I decided to get married I invited Mr. Danforth and he came to the wedding with a card with money enclosed. He "tacked" the money inside. lol He was the BEST TEACHER ever and I'll never forget him. We used to call him "peanut" because he's so tiny. WE LOVE YOU MR. D.! Workplace Well, I've worked a few places since graduation. I moved to Green Bay, WI in 1990 and worked for the State of WI at the Unemployment office on Jefferson Street downtown. I really liked living in Green Bay but decided to move back home to Gladstone in 1995. I then went to work for Delta County Community Mental Health (now Pathways) where I worked for over 10 years. Then I became very ill from my diabetes and was no longer able to work full time so I quit there and went to work part-time for the Delta-Menominee District Health Department. I just got offered a job at St. Francis Hospital in the Business Office and am starting on July 21, 2008. I went to Bay de Noc Community College last fall and took a medical terminology class and received an "A". I guess I still have it after all these years and now it is paying off for me. I'm sure I will enjoy my new job as I love meeting new people and enjoy new experiences. Military I have never been in the military but just wanted to say how much I respect all of you who have and are fighting for our freedom. God Bless you all!
