Lynn's Story
Hi to everyone reading this.
After graduation...........yes I finally got out by taking physiology in the summer I went to SMCC but I was still a lousy student so that didn't work either.
You can guess what was in store next. I enlisted in the Navy to stay out of Vietnam and it almost worked. I went to the Nam as a member of an attack squadron of A-7 aircraft aboard the USS Oriskany. I was there for the end of the war and have very mixed emotions about the experience.
I got married in Oct. '72 and it didn't last after I got home. I went back to school but quit when she left cause I couldn't live on the 298.00 a month from the G I bill. I worked in a hardware store and then for a plumbing shop. When the shop closed in 1980 I had had enough so I packed up and headed east.
I had relatives in Tulsa so I stopped there for a while before moving to Springfield to plumb a second home for my dad Once again the Navy called ...Expand for more
but this time I enlisted in the reserves to meet people and I liked the extra money.
My wife worked as a navy clerk so I have been here since. We live on a 30 acre tract a short way south and east of Springfield MO. Our daughter Megan was born in dec. 1984 and our son Cory in nov. 1989. Lisa and I are both retired. She worked for the state at Family Services and spent 28 yrs. In a paper cup factory own first by LilyTulip and last by Solo.
I keep busy trying to keep mother nature from reclaiming the place and working in my shop. I got into blade smithing while working at the plant and I sell knives under the name of "Clem's Forge". I hand make everything using mostly scrap steel and other natural materials. I also make a few string instruments, mainly mountain dulcimers using wood From our property. I hope this was somewhat interesting. I seem to be one of the few to settle in the mid-west.
Take care
Lynn
