Lynn's Story
I'm in South Jersey just east of Philly. Delaware may claim to be the "First State," but I'm on a one-woman campaign to change Jersey's state motto to the "ME First State," since everyone born here has an innate right to be at the front of any and every line - traffic most certainly included. I play piano at my church and am married to a locomotive engineer, (retired from the Air Force) who says I'm Irish by injection. My daughter recently moved to GA, and my son is here in Jersey and loves it. Concert venues are minutes away - not hours. Everything is minutes away. From shopping to cornfields. Only thing not in Jersey is hog confinement operations, but North Jersey has refineries to make up for it. So. Cal, you have nothing on Jersey. New Jersey is THE most expensive state to live in. k home on what we pay for car insurance and buy a decent second-hand car for what the real estate taxes cost. If it sounds like I miss the Midwest, you're right. Only, if I ever manage to move back there, I'm not sure I could take the boredom. I certainly would enjoy the traffic (or lack of it, compared to here). Heck, I can remember making the drive into Newton and meeting maybe one or two cars. You can't go two blocks here any time of the day or night without sharing the road with half a dozen vehicles, most of which are passing on the shoulder. Begins to explain why car insurance is through the roof, huh? Hope to move back to central Illinois, when Jim has enough time with the railroad to retire....but only if I can get high-speed cable internet and digital HDTV! I"m too spoiled now to go back to antennas and dial-ups.
