Lynne's Story
2019 update: I lost my first husband Dave to melanoma at age 45. We had been married 26 years. I was widowed for four years when I met Jeff Sunderman, the 2nd love of my life!!. We dated 8 weeks and married 8 weeks later. We have now been married 19 years. He had two daughters so I now have a total of 4 daughters. We moved to Tucson as Jeff's daughter Krista is a doctor here and thought it best to be by the doctor as we age. Laura, Jeff's youngest, and her husband live in Huntington Beach. My daughter, Cheyenne lives in Gardnerville and co-owns the Paul Schat's Bakery in Carson City. My oldest granddaughter Sedona (24) graduated from NYU and lives in New York. She is a singer/songwriter and you can hear her on itunes and spotify as CAFUNE'. One of her songs has had more than a million downloads. So exciting!! Grandson Isaiah is in college in Reno. My youngest daughter Wendy, husband and family live in Tokyo, Japan for her job as a Partner with Price Waterhouse Coopers. They have been there 2 years and have 1 more year till they return to the states. I have visited them twice for touring and spending time with those grandchildren Katelynn, ages 11 and Cruz age 9.
I am an antique dealer in two antique malls here in Tucson. I have always loved antiques and been in this business as a hobby and part time job for 30+ years. Jeff is a retired CPA but still has a small practice and works during tax season for a firm here. We have had some pretty rocky financial times when we both lost our jobs in the same month but have stayed strong and managed to survive stronger.
I am so looking forward to seeing many of you at the reunion!!
This was from the 40th reunion. My life adventure: After graduation I went to Rio Hondo. While there I met Dave Jackson who graduated from Cal Hi in 1968. After just 8 weeks of dating we got married. Our first daughter, Cheyenne, was born in 1971. We moved to Mammoth Lakes in 1973 for six years where we managed condominiums and our second daughter, Wendy, was born in 1976. We moved to Bishop, Ca in 1979 where the girls grew up with 4-H,fishing and hiking. During this time I went back to school with the goal to finish college by age 40. I did finish my BA/Business finally and met my goal of age 40. In Bishop, Dave was a probation officer and I was the ED of a non-profit contracting with the State of California for Inyo/Mono counties. Dave and I were married for 26 glorius ...Expand for more
years when he passed away from melanoma (skin cancer) at age 45. When we knew he would be passing away, we moved Wendy and I to Reno so I would not be widowed in the small town of Bishop. Reno has been good to me. When I moved to Reno I worked for the American Heart Association but left that job to stay home and care for Dave for the 5 months before his passing. I then worked for the National MS Society as ED. During that time I met and married the second love of my life, Jeff, who had two daughters. Jeff is a CPA with a small practice but also works with start up in the venture capital area. The name of this business is Sierra Capital Resources. They have a website that has my picture.
We have now been married for 9 years. Our girls have blended well and help each other out as good friends. I am currently the COO of the Nevada Discovery Museum which will be in Reno's Old City Hall. My daughter Cheyenne has been married 17 years to Paul Schat. They live in Garnerville, NV, 45 miles south of Reno and had my first grandchildren, Sedona (now 14-freshman in High school) and Isaiah (now 10). They have owned an operated Schat's bakeries in Mammoth, Calistoga and are now building a bakery in Carson City. My youngest, Wendy, graduated from Fresno State and is a CPA/auditor with Price, Waterhouse, Coopers for 7 years. She is also married to a man named Paul for four years (they dated for 11 years before getting married). They had my next grandchild, Katelynn, who is now 15 months old and they just told me they are pregnant and due in Oct. My oldest stepdaughter, Krista, lived with Jeff and I for 3 years of college and then went on to medical school at the University of Nevada-Reno. She is currently in her second year as an intern living in Tucson but expects she will return to Reno as the university has offered a job working at the UNR student clinic. She has been dating a fellow doctor for 7 years but no wedding insight. The youngest, Laura, is getting married in June to a man with a 10 year old son so we will be adding a 5th grandchild. After graduating from Loyola Marymount, Laura went to the CCA in San Francisco and an externship in Italy as a chef. She currently works in Reno as a chef at a nice Italian Restaurant. Our house is always full of kids/grandkids/dogs and we love all the commotion.
I am not sure I will make the reunion due to our daughter's wedding in June.
I will certainly try to make it.
