Psalms 30:11 "Happiness is not having what you want, happiness is wanting what you have." "I know you believe that you understand what you think I said, but I don't think you realize that what you heard was not what I meant! "Knowledge is something you want with all your might - but you have to keep reaching and searching, and hoping for the power it takes to get it into your brain - and then you must retain it - keep it there. Sometimes, that's an unbelievably long reach. And for some - it's a lot longer reach than for others." A poem entitled: "And Nobody Knows it but Me" Live, laugh, love ♥ (¯`v´¯) `·.¸.·´ ¸.·´¸.·¨) ¸.·¨) (¸.·´ (¸.·´ (¸.·¨¯`". More about Lynne:"I was married to my soulmate (Steve passed away Dec. 07, 2004) for 26years (we dated for 2 years and were always together). Since that time, it's been a long, hard battle, but God is so good! He allows the sun to come up everyday - and He allows me to see it! Our son, Chris, is married and lives in Damascus, VA, with our daughter-in-law, Kathy, and our granddaughter, Summer. I have grandkitties and grandpuppies. I also have four furry children (of the canine and feline species). Chi-Chi and Rebel are registered Service/Therapy dogs. They are very good at what they do and they love spreading cheer wherever they go! Both love to travel! I was diagnosed with cancer - and continue to battle. I may have it - but it doesn't have me. Everyday is a battle. This is where, litterally, the rubber meets the road and you find out fast who your friends REALLY are (sorry - but that's just the way it is). Everyday, you learn to be so thankful that God has blessed you with His grace and love. Enough said. Education was and continues to be a passion for me. There is a wealth of knowledge out there and it is anyone's - you've just got to want it as much or more than someone else. Pursue with vigor! I have a Type-A personality. I never realized this until I saw my son one day and realized he and I were just alike. I am so proud of him! I worked at doing what I loved most: serving God, working with our Veterans, taking care of my family, and making a difference in someone's life (that's what you do in Nursing!). I was named to/as Outstanding Young Women of America in 1988 and 1996. I was ...Expand for more
a Frist Humanitarian of the Year Receipent in 1988. I was honored as Employee of the year at UVA. In 2012, I became a Cambridge honoree. What an honor that was! I am now listed as a Cambridge Receipant for Professionals and hold this honor with great pride. Steve and I were presented with several accolades from the VFW, DAV, and the VN Veterans of America. We both were commissioned Kentucky Colonels. I am very proud to be a "Gold Star Wife." This honor was bestowed upon me shortly after Steve's death. I have been associated with the American Cancer Society for a number of years. I have participated in hundreds of Relay For Life events and served as Survivor Retention Chairperson for Tazewell County. I have served Survivors as "Survivor Outreach Co-Ordinator" ("SOC") for Tazewell County - and I dearly love working with other Survivors! I was the first SOC for Tazewell County and worked to help set up the Cancer Resource Room at CVMC. I have worked with the ACS "Look Good - Feel Better" Program and have done several LGFB sessions. I have served in various positions with other localities in RFL events. I have also worked with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. I have participated in several "Walk for the Cure" events. I love being involved with my community and working with cancer Surviors is the absolute greatest activity anyone could ever experience and share in! This year, my goal is to participate in a 60 mile walk to not only raise money but also awareness about breast cancer. I have become more of a home-body as I have gotten older. Traveling was something Steve and I enjoyed. I look at traveling in an entirely different manner now. My kids and I love traveling during vacation and we try to go sonewhere different each year. I can honestly say that I have enjoyed my time here on earth. I have 2 nieces I (8 years old) that make getting out of bed everday worthwhile. My 2 middle nieces amaze me everyday (honestly, I can't remember high school being so hard but the 2 middle girls are teaching me differently)! My nephews (all 3 of them) are making their marks on the world and are making me so proud. My youngest (great) nephew is singing with the angels and playing in Heaven. My two older nieces are such good mothers - that's something rare to see these days. I serve the Lord with great pride and honor. While I was a nurse, I always told my patients: "There is always hope. Just look up - and always remember - depression, down, demolotion, despair, devil, and death all begin with a "d". Look upward! There are no "d's" in Heaven - only goodness. Sometimes you have to let go and just let God do what He needs to do - and what He has planned for you will make it all worthwhile. Sometimes it's easier to lash out than to show love. We've all done that. We only hurt the ones we love - sound familiar? Just keep your spirits up. If you ever need a friend, I'll be here for you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I love you! And you know - so does God!" Since Steve's death, I learned that you can come home again. I've also learned when your best friend leaves this world, he's never coming back. It wasn't a dream.....".
