M. Kay's Story
Life
Hi, UC friends! I've been living in Palm Beach County for the past 10 years. I was working in a psychiatric hospital when I lived on the other side of the state and went to work for Juvenile Justice when I moved to the east coast. In '03 I decided to go into business for myself. (I'm a licensed mental health counselor and a certified addictions professional.) Kind of ironic for those of you who remember me well from high school. I contract with two agencies and work with children, teens and families in distress. I also do critical incident stress debriefing through Magellan Insurance for companies whose employees have had a traumatic event. (eg hurricanes, sudden death of a coworker, bank robberies, etc.) And last but not least, I have a small private practice in Palm Beach Gardens.
I love to play golf and am a member of the Palm Beach County Executive Women's Golf Association. For any of you who love golf, Palm Beach...Expand for more
County is the nation's golf capitol. I think that I read that there are more golf courses per square mile here than anywhere else in the country. I'm also an avid reader, I listen to a lot of talk radio and I enjoy going to art festivals around the state. For quick getaways I like to go to the Keys and to Sanibel and Captiva on the west coast.
After my youngest daughter moved out, I sold my condo in Royal Palm. I moved to WPB and am buying a home with my best friend. Twice married; twice divorced, and never again. Caylee and Nikki (youngest daughters, second marriage) live in the Punta Gorda, FL area with their families. My oldest daughters, Michelle and Kassie, reside in Georgia and PA respectively with their families. As you might suspect, I don't get to spend nearly enough time with any of my children and grandchildren.
I hope to hear from old friends as I've pretty much fallen out of touch after 25 years away.
