Merle's Story

I always wanted to be a pilot when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right. I like to play racquetball - it really lowers the stress level! My hero was always and is still my dad. I always wished I could be like him. He was excellent at everything he did. I have lived in almost every US state - I traveled a lot with the US Air Force. I've been to quite a few countries overseas as well. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Eddie Wiser, because he was one of the guys I hung out with. I haven't heard from him since graduation.. My obsessions include racquetball, my black lab, and of course - my girlfriend! My biggest surprise would be living to be this age! It's been a great "ride"! If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen and add on a garage. My dream home would be a place in the country with 5 acres of land. (UPDATE: I FINALLY GOT MY FIVE ACRES W/ A RIVER RUNNING THROUGH IT! My neighbors include: wild turkey, squirrels, deer, and mountain lions - all great neighbors! April 2010) The major thing I've learned from my kids is patience! I would love to see Mrs. Ward again - she was my 5th grade teacher. She was a...Expand for more
great teacher and mentor. Well, never lived in a dorm - but I did live in the barracks while in the Air Force. I'd never do that again! To be truly happy, I would be in Oregon, fishing with Robin. That would be really nice! My current age is 68. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be OOOLLLLLDDDD. I was so completely wrong - I'm full of life. My best friend would tell you I'm outgoing, loving, and caring, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as shy. The weirdest job I ever had was making sausage last year (working to help out a friend's new business). I share my home with my girlfriend, which I find wonderful. I have many trophies - most of them for racquetball. Last year my partner and I took 4th in the National Senior Olympics. Next to those, I also have a black belt in Judo, which I received in Japan. My one do-over would include not getting married to Carol! That was a big mistake. In 10 years, I hope to be breathing! I'm going to get there by keeping in shape, eating right, and playing racquetball. My first job was at my dad's store, where I got paid meager wages to sell tackle and bait. What I remember most about it is spending time with my dad.
