Life I was born and raised there in Tallahassee, Florida on Augusta 21, 1949. I was a member of Jacob Chapel Freewill Baptist Church until I left home in the summer of 1966. During my childhood, I attended Bonds Elementary, Nims Junior High and Lincoln High Schools. At the end of my 10th grade year I had played around, cut classes and did not do my homework, I was going to stay back and that was just too embarrassing. I left home and went to Newburgh, New York, with promises to my mother that I would complete high school. When I got to New York, I was still too embarrassed to go back to school so I worked at any job that I could find until I had had enough. In May 1967, I entered the United States Army where many good things happened for me. I served tours in Korea and Viet Nam and in August 1970, I got my GED through the Army’s Education Center at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. This made my mother happy and it helped me to advance.
