Malinda's Story
I am a 57 year old mother of 3 and grandmother of 3. Is that right? Hardly seems possible, it has flown by. I graduated from South High School in 1971 and Bakersfield Community College in 1973 as a Registered Dental Assistant with an AA degree. I completed 2 quarters at Cal State University Bakersfield and decided to quit when I got married ( dumb, very dumb).
I returned to the University in 2002 and graduated June(06) with a BA in History, and with Honors. Yep, very proud of that one since I suffer from bouts of hormonal fog!
I adore spending time with all of my kids, especially during the summer when we travel together. It is my favorite thing to do, a touring history lesson with the kids. Sappy I know, but, I am blessed. They are wonderful people.
I still love music as much as ever ( I spent 4 years in the Choir Room participating in Mixed Choir, South High SIngers and Double Trio). Oldies...I love Rock 'N' Ro...Expand for more
ll, 60's, 70's, 80's Motown, Jazz, Country, Show Tunes. Music prepares the soul to dance.I love any music that can transport me to another place in time and simply allow me to linger and remember for a while.
I always wanted to be a singer or teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a possible idea. As it turns out, they were right about teaching (lol).
driving listening to my favorite misice..if that doesn't work, well..I am like my mom here. I tear the house apart and clean clean clean.
Anyone who steps beyond themelves to help others is my hero. Self sacrafice, whether it is your time, or placing yourself in harms way to protect someone is insprational. Where does it come from..my parents,my 2 older brothers who served in Viet Nam, friends of the family who served in Viet Nam, family and friends who are WWll vets..the list goes on. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
I'm still learning!
