Manny's Story

Life Well, I turn 32 this year. In the last 14 years since graduating from Sunset SR, I have had several changes in my life. I took my Associates Degree in Science from MDCC north campus. I Majored in Graphic Arts Technology(AS). Met through a close friend my first true relationship. We lasted four years together. I experienced and learned alot. We lived together for three of those four years. My brother and sister had problems and ended up living with me and my girlfriend. We were supposed to get married. During this same time I bought, built and customized a Nissan p/u truck. With a couple of people started up a carclub, Southside Customs. Was part of the custom truck show circuit for a little over four years, my girlfriend included. Had lots of exposure, my truck made it in a couple of Magazines for photo shoots. Well, my life at that time was already spiraling downward at a very fast and hard pace. My truck ended up being repoed due to.I had just gone through a nasty seperation from my other half. My brother and sister had been moved out by this time. I was getting ready to lose my house, I had already lost my truck and my wages were being garnished for the truck repo. Finaly they foreclosed on the house. Then, a woman at work shows lots of interest in me. By what I mean is that we ended up being a thing for two years and ended having a son with here. But to no avail this was in actuality the definative blow in my life that made me hit rock bottom. After she had the baby, she took off with her ex and our son to Puerto Rico to live. Its been five years since then. Also,I was going through chapter 7 Bankcruptcy, to stop the garnishing of my wages. My mom had convinced me to move in with her. Of course it was only until I was on my feet again. Well, thanks to me moving to south dade county, when I work in east ...Expand for more
Broward county, my car took a crap and I had to resign from my career. I was working at ST. Ives, INC for four years by this point, as a printer. Now, I really was at rock bottom. It has been four years since that point. I have started a new career as a sales/marketing analyst and business developer. Started my way through retail, then went into call centers/telemarketing as a sales pro. Finally was recognized by a rental company recruiter from NEFF Rental. Became a Business Development Manager at the Corporate office for the company. I had finally made it to the top where all the Executives play. Did that for a year to get the experience I require to move ahead in the game. Like always was able to be at the top and stay there for nine months. At the same time, my sights were set on moving forward. My resume was set up on Monster.com and I updated it. That sent out my resume as a brand new one and everyone who is a head hunter/recruiter will see it. Well that took a few weeks until I received a call from the competition. Who took a good look at my resume and made me an offer I could not refuse. It was killing me inside because I felt a sense of loyalty towards NEFF. I juggled it around for 2 weeks and finally came to terms with my decision I was about to make. I accepted the position of National Accounts Coordinator/Manager. The company, Nations Rent, offered me a very nice package deal. It included a 75% pay increase and all the benefits. Basically, I work with all the top one percenters of the company. Now with this new job, my brother and I are in the market to purchase a house. This time my brother will be the owner. It'll be his house and I will be the tenant. Gee, how the roles have reversed in life. For ther last five years I have been trying to lift off the ground my own business, with my best friend.C-YA!
