Katheryne's Story
After graduation in 1960, I married in November 1960. My husband was in the Air Force. We had our first baby in 1961, a girl. We had another girl in 1963, and another girl in 1965 while in Okinawa. We spent 3 years in Okinawa moving to Tampa, Florida, in 1968 where we had a boy in 1969.
In 1969, my husband left the Air Force and we moved back to Lone Pine, California. In 1971, my husband joined the CHP, we moved to Barstow, California, in 1972, where my husband became a California Highway Patrol Officer, and also spent time as a helicopter observer. While in Barstow, I worked for the County of San Bernardino, Department of Social Services, and the District Attorney¿s Office.
In 1983, we moved to Death Valley where my husband became the resident post officer there. Our son was the only one left at home by that time and rode 60 miles, one way, to school each day, graduating in 1987. We left Death Valley in 1991. During the time spent in Death Valley I worked for the National Park Service.

st Service and so my husband and I moved there. My husband was on pending retirement. We spent 5 years there, and in 1996, I was offered a position in McCall, Idaho, as a GS-11 Personnel Management Specialist. My husband and I spent 4 years in McCall and I then transferred to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where I retired early, after 1 year, as my mother needed assistance so we went back to Lone Pine, California. We spent 3 years with my mom in Lone Pine and she passed in 2003. We then bought our retirement home in Pahrump, Nevada, and moved here in June 2004. We have been in Pahrump now 5 years.
Now we enjoy our children (four), grandchildren (six, 2 girls, 4 boys) and great-grandchildren (four, 2 girls and almost 2 boys) and 2 dogs that are our babies.
Currently, I am going to college to become a medical transcriptionist (new career for me). My husband is just happy being retired and working on classic vehicles, going to car shows and air shows (just went to the air show at Edwards last week). In November 2010, we will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.
