Marc's Story
Life
Wow, I'll be as short and succinct as I can. Let's see since leaving the hallowed halls of Warren Fitgerald AKA "Fitz". I entered the Navy after a year in the delayed entry program and took advantage of the fine Naval training Schools in the electronics field. Upon graduating was assigned to the Battleship Missouri. Great duty for a young man. With her I have been around the world visiting 6 continents and many of it's countries. After my high sea days in 1990, I got out and went to work for Douglas aircraft in Long Beach where I was married to my wife Colleen. We moved back to Michigan in 1992 and I worked at michigan aviation in the avionics group. Did a little stint in the reserves and after 2 weeks on an aircraft carrier remembered why I had gotten out of the service all over again. It was actually a "cool 2 weeks". Then landed my position with Ford Motor Electronics division which has evolved into Visteon Corp. My group designs and manufactures Digital satellite radio. While doing all this we have managed to have 3 great kids and bought a house and still live here in Michigan.
School
After High School I had a feww months to wait for my school slot to open in the U.S Navy. I went in Finally after boot camp to Great Lakes Naval training center for Basic Electricity/...Expand for more
electronics school. After completion I went directly to the advanced electronic school. After which I was sent to San Diego Ca, for specialized equipment training. And have since continued my eduacation opportunities by attending or by correspondence courses through Central Texas College, Cypress College, Macomb Community College, Oakland Community College, and Lawrence Technical. Oh yes I like school. Now :)
Workplace
Started out with 6 years in the U.S navy as an Electronics Technician.
When honorably discharged worked in Long Beach Cal, for Mcdonnell Douglas corp on the c- 17 cargo aircraft as an electrician
Left california for Mi and began working at michigan aviation at Oaklnd /pontiac airport as an avionics tech.
Wanted out of aviation so I took a position with E.I Dupont in troy, Mi as an environmental test engineer
And at least came full circle back to the electronics field with Ford Motor Co Electronics which has since split off and has become Visteon Corp as an engineering Technologist.
Military
The stress and at times dangerous duties I have been involved in were to me an even trade off for the people, places and things I have experienced. My training has also been key to landing the jobs I have gone after. All in all a life experience I am very proud of....
