Marc's Story
Life
Presently, I am an adjunct instructor at Lakeland Community College, teaching Humanities, Philosophy, and Religious Studies. I taught at Tri-C -- six years at the Metro Campus and two years at the Western Campus. Despite the 62 miles round trip, sometimes four days a week, I enjoy being at Lakeland.
I joined the West Tech Alumni Association and took over being editor of the Newsletter from Crandall Stark, '28, I immediately named the newsletter "The Tatler" and got very involved in the organization. I served four years as President of the WTAA, during that time, I headed the WTAA delegation to save West Tech from the demolition. I worked with Councilman Jay Westbrook, City Hall, a community committee, and other West Alumni reviewing the proposals for our alma mater.
This year, the WTAA nominated me to the West Tech Hall of Fame and I will be inducted with other alumni on September 16th, at the ceremony being held at Ridge Manor (Ridge Road and Biddholph Avenue in Brooklyn, Ohio).
On the personal side, I live with my mother and brother. Mom is 83 and has had two knee and one hip replacements. Lance is on the go all the time being a player, instructor, and referee with both national and international handicap billiards and pool associations tournaments. My life since West Tech has had many interesting adventures. I spent a year in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne Bigade -- no I did not jump from planes, I was a computer supply specialist. I lived in the Richmond, Virginia, for seven years, where I worked for Virginia State University, Polk Direc...Expand for more
tories, The Richmond Newspapers and a couple local companies. I attended Richard Bland College of the College of William and Mary, and in my spare time I managed to work for a couple radio stations, a theater chain, President of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and did technical work for theatre, opera, and several popular Discos.
In Cleveland, I worked for The May Company, Halle's, Victor Tempraries, and Higbee's -- doing the transition from Higbee's to Dillards.
I studied with the Franciscans and Sacred Heart Communities, I received my B.A. in Philosophy with a minor in Theology, and evenutally received my M.A. in Humanities from California State University. I was ordained in the Independent Movement of Christian Curches and elevated to the episcopacy, with communities in Ohio, New York, and Maine. I am a semi-retired eccesiatic.
Thanks to our last reunion, I reconnected with a couple classmates, and the last four years have added to my own personal adventures of life. We have shared many memories that have made us the people we are today.
I would like to thank each of you for being a part of my life. We all touched each others' lives in ways we may not yet understand.
As editor of "The Tatler" I used a line from our school song as the motto for the newsletter, "Always Loyal and Always True," that I believe that we all share, no matter what our personal beleifs or views are, we are connected together by our expeiences together as the unique community of West Tech students -- along with the faculty and staff -- that made West Tech a great school.
