Marc's Story
My family moved from NJ to California in 1972.After High School I moved to Alaska to the city of Ketchikan, and there I worked commercial fishing for salmon. We did purse seining with a large net; that job was very fun, exciting and dangerous. From there I moved to Hawaii with in a few days of being back in California from AK, and there I mostly did construction work. After Hawaii I went right back to Alaska to the Ketchikan area again and landed a job on a King crab fishing boat, like the show named "Deadliest Catch" that was on TV for a while. I worked mostly in the Aleutian islands area. From there I moved back to Los Angeles and worked for my self in the sheet rock business, installing and finishing the sheet rock doing custom/specialty work. After some years of that, a friend asked me to come south to a small town named San Clemente below Newport Beach, and south of Laguna Beach. He needed some help with remodel work and that was supposed to be for a few weeks. Well I liked that town and living near the beach so much that I only went home, eventually to gather my belongings and stay there for the next 15 years. During that time I continued with my sheet rock work and did well with that.
I was with a girl for 8 years, when she gave me the "if you don't marry me I will find someone who will" talk. We were on and off a few times during this relationship and at this time I had moved to Florida and really enjoyed living there, creating my own job and earning a good living. So I sent her a nice diamond ring and came back to Cali., and got married. The marriage was annulled with in the next 8 months. We then stayed together for another 5 years. So at that time I was back in the...Expand for more
great little beach town and I needed to create work again for my self. I started video taping pro surfers and became well known in that field. I did that for near 5 years and became the most renound videographer in So. Cal. The work was great and I so enjoyed the job of having to be in the sun and on the beach all day every day that there were waves to film. Some time during all this, around 1997 I started working for the motion picture industry as a set lighting tech in the local union #728. At some point I injured my low back and could not go on with that job. I entered a program to be retrained in something that wouldn't require so much lifting. I chose to go to computer repair school. That was good for me cuz I had little knowledge in computers at that time. As years went by I continued doing custom sheet rock work, repairing computers and working with my father who was going to auctions, buying office furniture and equipment. That was fun and interesting. We could get our items at a low cost and could make a pretty good profit. I really needed something more secure though, and a friend who owns a steel company in LA, expanded into Albuquerque NM, where there is a new movie studio. So he asked me to run the new company here in Albuquerque. Well here I am now, just enjoying life and racing around on my crotch rocket street motorcycle when I have time. I like to ride dirt bikes also but don't have one at this time. Dang I have written a lot. I hope I didn't bore ya. Bless you all and, "be happy don't worry..." I miss you all very much and am grateful to you all who have responded back to me. I probably left out, or forgotten some things but that is about the jist of my story.
