Marcy's Story
My first marriage ended after nine years and had one daughter. We divorced when our daughter was not quite year old.
When my daughter was 3 I remarried, between us we had 4 children starting the marriage he had 3 boys and I had a daughter. Much to our delight and surprise we had a son (yours mine and ours). In 1995 my husband and I drove a Semi over the road, we drove coast to coast and went into Canada. We got to see some beautiful places, including the time we were delivering in upstate New York, my husband surprised me and took me to Niagara Falls wow! My husband passed away just before our 20th anniversary.
I came to Texas shortly after losing him to help my mom with dad (dad passed away 2008) so it is just mom and me here in Texas now, both my children still leave in Missouri in the Platte City area along with my three beautiful granddaughters which I make a trip up at least once a year to see.
I work for a very large company where I process payroll for over 2,000 employees, there are 12 payroll processors. In the middle of this economy ...Expand for more
we are one of the few companies that are still doing great. I started this job as a Temp shortly after I came to Texas, after 18 months my contact ended. I worked for a short period of time for a Physical Therapy before Apple, Inc contacted me to come back as an Apple employee this time instead of a temp. I started out as the Admin in the payroll department doing reports, mail, emails, phones, you name it I did it! In less then two years I was promoted to a Payroll Specialist and was given my own payroll, of 1200 employees. As the company has grown so has my payroll, we just hired two more specialist to help with the payroll. We are paying over 2000 employees each. I love what I do and really enjoy going to work each day as I work with some wonderful people and it is a great company to work for.
Texas is a great place but I miss Missouri, which will always be home. My kids try to get me to move back but I cannot give up the great job I have and know I would not be able to find one as good there. Who knows some day when I retire............
