Dr. Marcy's Story
Life
BS in biology, with research on seabirds in Alaska and California. Graduate school at Purdue University, and received a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences in 1997 studying seabirds on Alcatraz Island. Currently Dean of McCoy College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering at Midwestern State University, as well as an associate professor of biology. Locally I do species restoration and biogeography studies. In November 2000 I married Richard Marsden, originally from Leeds, UK. Rich does geology/geophysics research and programming.
My son Samuel Milton Marsden was born as a surprise late-in-life baby on July 1, 2015.

Workplace
Dean of the McCoy College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering at Midwestern State University.
At the University of Dallas until 2015, most recently as associate dean for the Constantin College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Served for 18 years as an professor of biology. Courses I teach include anatomy, biostatistics, ecology, environmental science, Darwin, a Costa Rican field course, and freshman-level biology.
Outside of my main job, I also am a boardmember for a few environmental organizations, am on the parks board, and do consulting projects on managing private lands for wildlife.
