Margaret's Story
After West Tech, I attended to Antioch College as a co-op student and, during the work cycles, at then NACA Lewis Flight Propulsion Lab by the airport (now NASA) where I first learned computer programming. During a subsequent work rotation at the US Census Bureau I was part of the team upgrading UNIVAC model 1 & 13 decimal machines to their new UNIVAC 1103 & 1103A octal machines ... almost the "stone age" of computer systems. It was there I first met Fred Rose, a few years later to become the love of my life.
I wrote computer software at Litton Industries in Beverly Hills, California before we married & then at General Electric in Syracuse, in the early days of big main-frame computers. I ook a few years off to be at home with the boys when they were little & then returned to developing software at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, MA (once the boys got to school age) & am now retired from ...Expand for more
the staff after 33 yrs.
I've lived in Sudbury, MA since 1966 with my husband, Fred , where we've raised our 2 sons, Jonathan (now in Laguna Beach, CA) & Daniel (in Manhattan). We married in 1960 & have lived in Syracuse, NY, Washington, DC & then to Sudbury, living a few years on Kwajalein, MI in the early 1970's (a mid-Pacific atoll with lots of radar systems developed by MIT Lincoln Laboratory).
We have 2 exceptional grandchildren who live in Laguna Beach, CA & we try to fly there for hugs as often as we can...thank goodness for FaceTime to get interim piano recitals & updates etc.. My 7 brothers & my sister have moved to almost every corner of the US... none but one living in the Cleveland area during the Summer (all of his grands are there). We do manage to gather the 9 of us as well as an assortment of the next generations somewhere in the country almost every year. It's been a good life!
