Margaret's Story
It's been on hellova ride since 1964 and I'm so glad I had so much fun! Am now kinda bent (medically) and unable to cope with several hours in an airplane. Worked for United Airlines for 25 years in customer service and my spine got pretty beat up. However--am now living on a 40-acre ranch on the eastern plains of Colorado where all my close neighbors have four legs! I did do the usual of 'city girl goes country' and started out with lotsa critters: horses, llamas, goats, ducks, chickens and dogs, but over the past four years have had to get rid of all except the llamas, only have four now and am down to only seven dogs out of 18. I was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi breader for a while but kept messing up my profit by keeping the puppies!!!!
Been married and divorced three times and haven't regretted it. Learned a lot! Now I'm by myself, plus the dogs, and love living alone out in the country with only cows, horses and (my) llamas for company. No city...Expand for more
buses, no screaming cop car sirens, no teenagers wtih boom boxes and loud cars--it's great!
I have two kids--both nearing 50 and freaking out (I keep telling 'em 'you ain't seen nothing yet!) and five grandchildren and two step-grandkids. Daughter lives in California and son still in Maryland.
Left Maryland in 1992 for Denver and felt like I was 'coming home' the first time I saw those mountains. Have always thought that Colorado was/is the greatest secret in the U.S. (but don't tell anybody). When the humidity races towards 20% I start to wig out--too hot! I feel sorry for all you folks sweating on the east coast. And when it snows, it's all gone in a day or two, no ugly black stuff sitting around. I'm at 7200 feet, even higher than the mile-high-city of Denver, and 95 degrees is too hot and not the norm. And I rarely have to shovel snow. We do have a lot of wind though.
So ya'll have a great time at the reunion have a dance for me, okay?
