MY Life, Near Death, and Life Thereafter since 1984...
My work history at some desireable and less than desireable places such as;
The Eighties:
1982-1984 Skate World of Troy
1984-1987 Liberty Park of America
Moonlighted at many places like: Yosins Lounge, Thomas Crystal Gardens, House of Imports - Art Department, Reliable Signs, Kmarts, The Saloon, Lipsticks,Shields Pizza, etc.
The Nineties:
Went out to California to be found, nothing found me but poverty. LOL
I enjoyed my three year stint at it though. Worked in Property Management and moonlighted at;
The Body Shop on Sunset, FlorentineGardens/Tropicana,
Chateau Marcella, Sunset Orange, was an extra in the movie "Afterburn" with Laura Dern, extra in the movie "The Last Boyscout" w/ Bruce Willis, and an extra in the Director's Workshop "Intent". Back to Michigan...
Worked at Warren Sign Systems, and in Property Management. Moonlighted at J.Edgars on Hoover, The Traffic Light, Please Station,Kerry's Wild Cherry, Bogarts, LA Photo Shoots,Phoenix Coney Island,etc..
Went to Florida. My plan was to get a puppy and run on the beach... I ended up with two kids, a husband and a College Degree. Graduated from Florida Metropolitan University with a degree in Commercial Art. Worked at Affordable Signs, Cinnabar Set Design, and subcontracted for Celebration Flags & Banners where I hand painted Banners currently on Display at Disney's Discovery Island, Moonlighted at Thee Candy Bar, Nick's Boatyard, and The Sicilian Pizzaria.Started my own company M.D. Signs & Designs, back to Michigan... worked at Sneakers, Ford Cafeteria, Terry's Terrace,and Began another company Kool Graphics and Modern Designs. So all is good right? Wrong!!
April 11, 2002 My life as I knew it came to a crashing halt! Lit...Expand for more
erally. I was struck and run over by a deisel truck while walking down the sidewalk.When God breathed life back into my lifeless body and his angel sounded the horn to wake up that I was about to fight the fight of my life, I decided right then and there I had tried it my way for some thirty some years maybe I should try it God's way. The fight was on and I was giving it my best shot, it was followed by six years of Physical, Occupational, Speech, Pshcho and Recreation Therapies. In 2004 I suffered a rare but serious allergic reaction/side effect to one of the medications I was on. Wouldn't you know I was the 1 in 100,000 this would happen to. Ended up in Critical condition at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor had five platlette tranfusions and Infusion Therapy at the Cancer and Oncology Center. (And my marriage had ended amongst the chaos)
At the encouragement of my therapists I again started a company called Vinyl Vision. It has not really gotten off the ground since I'm still in therapy, disabled and pending two surgeries, but I'm hopeful it will someday be everything I dreamed it would be. My goal is to combine sign making technologies with the Amiga Animation System and bring vinyl to life on billboards, cars, signs etc. I will get there. In the meantime I met and married my soulmate. A tall, cool and strickingly handsome rock-n-roll man. I've written a few songs, none of which are famous yet but... So as to the here and now, I thank God and Jesus everyday for my life (the good, the bad & the ugly) my children, my husband, my family, my friends and everything he has blessed me with and continues to bless me. So that's my story and I'm sticking with it! God bless each and everyone of you - wherever you are and whatever you are doing!
