Margaret McRae's Story
This is the Story of Margaret McRae
Jackson
I hope friends will remember me as a God fearing, honest, creative, versatile, loving and unique person.
I wanted to be a Singer, when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a terrible idea. As it turns out, they were correct!
To blow off steam, I enjoy playing the WII bowling or boxing games.I enjoy tennis, lifting weights and still like Badminton. The wildest thing that I did in school was to get in the car with 5 other friends and we went to buy one quart of beer. At that time, a quart of beer between 6 ladies was a big thing. We got a buzz from the idea of doing something so off the wall for us.Verdell, do you remember? I was recently reminded, that I drove the friends car off campus.(LOL)
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to be neatly dressed and acquire knowledge of what the job entails.I need to know what the requirements are.I believe in a days work, for a days pay.
My inspiration comes from many people including "Aunt Mae." She taught me the power of positive thinking, the art of giving and receiving. Most of all, she taught me the necessity of placing God first,in all my endeavors and everything else falls in place.I
learned to forgive easily and to love
with all my heart.I was encouraged to
memorize many affirmations of faith.
Affirmations remind us of how close we
are to God but more than that, how close He is to us! My grandmother inspired us to be good to people and
to love everyone, regardless to whether
they loved us or not.Life has been my
best teacher, the lessons learned have
caused me to be a better person in total!I have learned that it is okay to love with all of your heart. If we get hurt, we will get over the hurt. It is best to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
If I had to live my life over again, I would not change a thing. I would appreciate each day and love as though my heart has never been broken. When I recall my years of courtship (sitting on the sofa in our family Living Room,
I did not realize how much one young man loved me, until his mother told me
years later that her son almost lost his mind over me. I felt very bad but
we are still friends today. He was quite a gentleman! I appreciate that in him.
A childhood memory that I will remember
always is my alter ego, Sheena Queen of the Jungle. I often enjoyed playing her part. One day, while standing on a tall can, I said,"Sheena Queen of the
Jungleeeeeee..... ....by
that time,I was crying and getting up again and checking for broken bones! My loving sister had kicked the can from under me!My feelings were hurt and so was my behind! We still find it
easy to laugh at my pain of yester year. For Christmas 2008, my daughter and her Fiancee bought me three of Sheena's DVD's and the original comic book. What a gift! Who's laughing now,my sister?
I was born in Telfair County, McRae,Ga. The year I was born, my family moved to Moreland,Ga.I have lived in Columbus,GA., Carrollton,GA.,
Denver, Colorado for a short time and I have lived in Grantville, Moreland,Newnan and back to Moreland in another location.I moved because I was doing Student teaching in Columbus.I went to West Ga to get my Masters Degree. I lived in Fort Valley four years and received my B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. I have several hours toward my six year certification.I received my Masters Degree in Mental Retardation in 1971,from State University of West Georgia. I retired in 1998 from the Coweta County School System.Sometimes,
I do Substitute Teaching in Meriwether County Schools. I am so thankful to be retired. I volunteered at the Local Hospital for a short time.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my College,P.E. Teacher Ms. Flossie Love, because she taught me archery and to utilize the large trampoline. She helped to eradicate a lot of my childhood fears. I enjoyed being flipped on the trampoline by Grover Smith and his brother. I became quite an avid stuntster.
I am very fond of pets. My first pet was our puppy (Brownie).I enjoy tropical fish.I had an aquarium in my classroom and usually two at home.I learned a lot about Tropical fish from, my friend Dr.Ron Abe. He was a smart man who enjoyed the outdoors and playing games.Games that made you think were most fun. My first pet was a Chihuahua (Sancho). He was like my child for many years. He brought much joy in my life. I was dressing him years before Paris Hilton got her first one.He was black with tan markings. I miss Sancho, immensely!
My biggest surprise in life was at the end of my first marriage. If someone had told me it would not have lasted, I would not have believed them. A marriage may not last but keep the fond memories and move on. I married
again, a few years later and gave birth to two children. One died shortly after birth. The next year, I was blessed with a beautiful, intelligent daughter. She is now Teaching in Atlanta,GA.I look forward to her marrying the love of her life, this coming Summer. I married my High School Instructor, eight years ago.He calls me his pretty
little wife. He knows how to appreciate
a real woman and a wife. He has truly spoiled me and I give all of the glory to God. He is now in a Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Peachtree City.
I am thankful that he is residing in a very nice facility.
My dream home would be on an Island for two, where we could bask in the sun and later play in the ocean
and just enjoy each other in every possible way!
The main thing I have learned from my daughter is that (children want to know that they are loved and cared for). The material things do not take the place of our being there. It is our
responsibility to make sure they are well rounded. In this world, they will need to do a multiplicity of things well.It is the parents responsibility to see that they are prepared for society.

When I receive $100 million dollars, I'll give 10 percent of it to my church, then spend the rest on my daughter, my husband , cure for cancer and the rest I'd go on a trip around the world promoting my numerous books and Educational toys.
I lived in Ohio Hall, during my Freshman year.It was quite an experience because I never had to go to any meal alone. My boyfriend walked me to all meals and brought me back to my dorm. We spent a lot of quality time together. I made a lot of lifetime friends, while living on campus.I am non Greek but I was and still am full of L-O-V-E!
To be truly happy, I would be with the love of my life, telling others about Jesus Christ and how He loves us and wants to make us happy. We are so special! When we really know Him, it makes you want to share Gods'love with everyone.I would be living wherever, God wanted me to be! I am sure I would be doing a lot of traveling. There is so much to be done for the Kingdom of God. I have done more than enough for the devil! I enjoy sharing my past with others. I am now a totally new person. I am so thankful for that! I want everyone to know how their life can be transformed, if they are willing to accept God and His will for all of His children.
My current age is 64. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be considered old. I was so completely wrong..
I am presently doing a lot of writing. I am going to get all of my books published. I plan to write a series of Children Books.I would also like to design a line of Educational toys for children of all ages. I am also interested in writing Bible stories for young people of all ages. There is
one "tell all" book that I am writing.
I could not publish it while my parents
were living. It's much like Peyton Place! Very good reading that you can't put down until the entire book is read. (cha-ching)
My first crush was a young man I married in a Tom Thumb Wedding.Unfortunately, he died a few years ago.
My best friend would tell you I'm very giving, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as being shy.
My attire is quite different now. I used to wear mini skirts, hot pants, tight jeans and very high heels.I now dress according to the occasion. I always dress in a neat and professional manner.I also wear more earth tones. My best friend won,in the color aspect of my wardrobe.I still like bright colors but softer tones.
The weirdest job I had was working in Bargain Town, after school and on weekends. I carried my daughter with me to Faculty meetings,to work and almost any place that would allow it.
I enjoyed having her with me. She learned a lot by being in Faculty meetings and workshops. She learned to
use computers when she was in the first
grade.
I share my home with my husband and our two dogs, which I find enjoyable.
Most of my trophies are for Poetry writing and several certificates for writing.I became a "Behavioral Therapist, after completing a course
at Ogden Lindsey Institute,in 1970.
I received a job as Project Director
at the University of Boulder. My mother
convinced me that Colorado was too far from home.I went out for a week and
enjoyed everything! I passed all of the
numerous interviews. It would possibly surprise some people to know that I was
nominated Teacher of the Year during my
first year teaching and Teacher of the year again in 1998,the year that I retired.
My one do-over would have been to learn the true meaning of ultimate love.True love is the love that
God has for me.It is a warmth that I feel when I think of Jesus, who gave His life for my sins! It is the kind that cannot be taken away and it gets sweeter with each passing day! Now, "that's love!"
In 10 years, I hope to be a loving grandmother. I'm going to get there by writing, reading and praying more. I will continue to tell others about how to live their best life now.
I met my oldest friend in the fifth grade. The School in Moreland closed. Two schools merged and she was very nice to me.I of course was nice too.We shared many childhood secrets and talked on the phone. We were in many of the same organizations. We attended the same High School. We became close in Elementary School and the only non relative that I could spend the night with was with her family. We have been friends for more
than 50 years. That's about the length
of time it took me to marry and divorce
three times. This is my fourth marriage and that is my final comment!(LOL)
My first job was at a neighbors home, where I got paid fifty cents per day to play with her daughter. What I remember most about it is after lunch, we had to take a nap and let our food
digest.I wanted to play some more but
since I was being paid, resting worked
for me!
I will always remember how I used to harmonize with my oldest sister. She played the piano and we would always sing. Our favorite song was the Halls of Ivy.I shall never forget how much
I enjoyed teaching my sisters and brothers to dance (cha-cha-cha).The most unforgettable memory was our annual vacation to McRae, Georgia. It
took atleast five hours in a hot car.
We went to see visit my Grandfather. He
owned a very large farm and there was
tobacco,peas,beans,cows,horses,chickens
and of course sugar cane. Those were the
some of my happiest childhood memories.
There is one program that I find very entertaining and it is called "Cheaters." Joey Greco is spokesperson for the show. People contact him at 1-800 cheaters.com and they decide if a persons story is worthy of being included on Cheaters. The various episodes are so hilarious because the person caught cheating usually blames it on the lover or spouse.I am not certain if there is more cheating now than in the previous years. I do know that if you break someone's heart, you will eventually have to pay the piper. Now that must really be painful, especially if you are caught on "Cheaters."
