Margaret Fields:  

I (Peggy) am a 1969 graduate of Penn Hills High School. After graduation, I attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education (Special Education). I graduated from IUP in 1973 and married Bob Fields (IUP 1972), and moved to Virginia in 1973 as an Army wife at Fort Lee. During my stay in Virginia, I taught the Learning Disabilities Class in Colonial Heights, VA as the LD Resource Specialist. While teaching, I earned my Master of Education (Learning Disabilities) in 1977 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Bob and I have 2 daughters, Lainey and Erin. When Erin entered kindergarten in 1984, I started work as a communications/computer instructor at the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired. I taught blind adults for 12 wonderful years until I was promoted to rehabilitation engineer in assistive technology for the blind in 1996. I remained with the agency but worked in the field, visiting people in their homes and at their jobs, helping them to use computers without the use of their sight.
