Margaret's Story
Here's my story.....after graduation I decided not to go to Valparazo, Indiana to school and took a job in New Haven at the phone company. Earned a lot of money for the times. My family moved to Hamden right after graduation. The hours at SNET were crazy so I took a job at Second New Haven Bank where I met my first husband, John Franco. We moved to Cheshire, had two children, moved to Madison and got a divorce. But during that time we rented a cottage for a week or two on First Avenue, Bayview Beach, for 12 years every summer. I moved back to Cheshire after we divorced. I went to work at North American Bank and Trust and took some courses at Post U and worked my way up from a receptionist to Mortgage Underwriter. Then went to a couple other banks/financial institutions to work and became a BOS (branch operations supervisor) Met my 2nd husband, Roy Watrous at one of them.
Got married in Las Vegas at a drive up church in an orange dress. I've lived happlily ever after wih Roy.....just moved to Guilford, on the green, a year and a half ago. Roy's my everything.......Expand for more
too bad I couldn't have met him first.
I don't work anymore...thank you Roy...and we love to travel to SC a couple times a year....Roy for golf and me for the beach. Leaving Friday for Disney with 2 of my 4 grandchildren. Another place we love. That's the kid in both of us showing.
I am now divorced from him since a couple years ago. I moved to Cheshire Village in a small apartment that I love.
I am completly different than in high school where I was a sullen, but normal teenager. I've become best friends with my mom who is now 94...and back then I didn't even want to be in the same room with her!
Oh, if we only knew now back then how we would've taken advantage of so much more......
I have to say I loved high school even though I took the simplest courses and never did a bit of work other than to graduate, both marriages and my life as a whole. I don't regret a thing that happened to me good or bad and consder myself very lucky to have met all the people I have in my life good or bad. Each one taught me something.
I hope people remember me kindly....
