Margaret (Maggie)'s Story
I left Sonoma on June 1, 1961 for Reno Nevada and got married, then drove on to Fort Wayne, Ind where I was mostly barefoot and pregnant for the next five years.I had three children, Debi, David and Lisa. Finding marriage not all I thought it would be ( after all what do you know at 17)and after washing diapers for seven straight years in a row I became very dis-enchanted and divorce followed. I returned to California to "Mama" in 1969. I went to work at Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek in 1970 as a Medical Record Technician and after seven years ended up in the Business Office as a records abstractor. I enhanced my education during this time at Contra Costa Community College to increase my knowledge in the medical field.I remarried again only to have it fail also. I spent several years living footloose and fancy free enjoying the single life.Took up scuba diving which I decided would be the one most dangerous thing I would do in my life.Had plans to visit all the exotic places in the world when cupid found me again. I never dove beyond Carmel. Two more children followed (Trinity) and (Jeremiah) another divorce, and I set off for the unknown in Phoenix, Az with my children in tow searching for whatever. The first thing I found was the HEAT. reaching 120 the first summer. I spent the first five years struggling in what I considered a really h...Expand for more
arsh environment and almost gave up but got a break by landing a job at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. I stayed thirteen years, finished raising my children and moved on to become a Nutritional Counselor. In 2007 I retired upon learning of my Mothers struggle with Alzheimer's disease and I returned to Napa to care for her full time. So here I am caring for her, taking care of the home she so unselfishly gave me, planting flowers and trying to grow vegetables.I'm an avid reader and collector of many different novels and classic movies and am in the process of building my own library. I also have quite a cookbook collection. I'm fairly content in my life and enjoy when I can the eight grandchildren I was blessed to have ( I'm still bent on seeing those exotic places someday I never got to see). I say Hi to all of you who read this and ask that you share your story with me if you'd like. Some of us go way back at least 4th grade or further as best I can remember. I've thought of many of you over the years and wondered where life took you. See ya....
Since originally writing my story I have joined Face book and have been able to connect to many of you again. This has been great!! Will see you at our 50th re-union .
