Margaret's Story

Life Updated: April 29, 2007 - decided to update by "bio" but wanted to leave what I had originally written for those just joining. I moved into Omaha from Plattsmouth last February (2006) into the Millard area and into a 4 bedroom split level house with a fenced yard for my little dog - how he loves that - no more having to be on a leash when he goes outside. I had a roommate until about 3 months ago and now a new roommate ... we will be getting married September 2008 (yep, a "new" bride at the "old" age of 63). He drives truck and is a company driver for an OTR company here in Omaha ... I took a 2-week vacation in November and went with him - we covered 6000 miles in that 2-week time period and it was great!! He must have enjoyed it as well as when we came home after the first week of being out, he "popped" the question and of course, my immediate response was a resounding "yes." My life will increase then to the tune of 7 grandchildren ranging in age from 1 year to 10 years - and it is great to have youngsters in my family again. I continue to work part-time at home although now for a lady here in Omaha who has 17 other transcriptionists working for her - 15 full-time and 3 part-time ... all Omaha doctors. I'm just not satisfied to be "retired" but it is nice to work when I want and to take off when the whim hits me. It has been nice to hear now from some of those I graduated with ... and can you believe that now Nishna Valley and Malvern are called East Mills with new school colors and a new mascot ... remember how hard it was when the 4 then small combined and we became graduating classes from Nishna Valley ... and now NV and Malvern are joining forces - don't think totally official yet ...Expand for more
but going to school together ... and to think also those of us that graduated in 1963 ... May 2008 will be 45 years ... WOW!! Please feel free to send me an e-mail to stay in touch. Maggi (Margaret) (Wheeler) Patterson ********** Hi to all grads of 1963 - where are we in today's world? My life has taken me from the Midwest to the East Coast, back to the Midwest, to the West Coast, and back to the Midwest where I reside now. I became a widow in November 2003 with the death of my second husband due to cancer. I moved to Plattsmouth, Nebraska from Tabor, Iowa in September 2004 after selling our property in Tabor, now living in an apartment with my Jack Russell terror (not a misspelling - lol). I retired from the University of Nebraska Medical Center at the end of 12/04 and work part-time from home now doing medical transcription for a company out of Memphis, Tennessee. As my now deceased husband was on Social Security, I was able to take widow's retirement at age 60 (UGH) rather than waiting for early retirement at age 62. There is no one special in my life at this point in time. I am still becoming used to be "single" again and the trials and tribulations that go with that. I have a cousin in Hawaii where I spent 10 days of true R&R last August (2004). My son (my youngest child) (Jared Peterman) lives in New Orleans and that is my favorite vacation spot. My middle daughter lives in Bellevue, Nebraska (Tami Peterman-Moss) and my oldest daughter lives in Shenandoah, Iowa (Beth Peterman-McCall). All 3 are wonderful kids. I have only 2 grandchildren, Heather McCall (age 19) and Jesse McCall (soon to be 17). Hope to hear from more of my classmates now that I have become a "gold" member.
