Margaret's Story
Life
I gave up teaching and was a bookkeeper for a trucking company in San Leandro, CA. I have been married to the same man for thirty seven years and have two children. My father is still living at the same house in Martinez. He is 92 as of Oct 2007. I grow orchids and carnivorous plants as a hobby. My son now has a son. My grandson is three and almost born on my father;s birthday. He came 2 days early. My father died March of 2012 at the age of 96. He never became senile and still would read the paper to argue politics and other things. My son is an occupational therapist and my daughter in law works at Berkeley Lawrence Lab. My daughter is attending Chinese Medical school. She is going to be an acupuncturist. My husband and I celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary in December 2012.
In the last 6 years I went snorkeling for the first time at 62 years old. Since then I have gone snorkeling in Belize, Honduras and again Hawaii. My husband likes to cruis...Expand for more
e so we took a 16 day cruise from Miami thru the Panama Canal. We finally docked in Long Beach. At this time the Canal was celebrating its 100th birthday. After all that time the engineering still works and the Canal is very operational. I also was in Cabo San Lucas after Hurricane Odile. My husband and I went on an ATV tour from the hills of Cabo down and arroyo to the beach and back. We had a guide and a photographer and the just Terry and I. It was great!
In September 2016 Terry and I went on a cruise to Mahogany Bay, Honduras, Belize and Cozumel, Mexico. In Cozumel I finally got to do something I have trying to do for 6 years. I got to rescue baby turtles. Only 80% if the nest digs out and makes it to the sea. We got to did up the other 20% and let them race to the sea. The turtles are about 3 inches long and are very feisty. They were trying to climb out of the dishpan that we put them in as we dug them out. Out of 2 nest we dug up and rescue 9 babies.
