Marge's Story
Life
Hi. I have been living in Mexico full time since June 2004 with the exception of the last four summers when my dog Emma and I have spent about 5 months outside of Glacier Park in Columbia Falls, Montana. As of summer 2017 I am back down in Mexico full time. This is where I love to be.
I built a house 6 years ago on the Pacific Coast of Mexico overlooking the ocean just north of Manzanillo, Mexico in the State of Colima. I have had a condo down there since 1992 and was hoping some day to be able to spend at least the winter months in Mexico. It became my retirement.
I'm pretty busy down there. I co-chaired a 325 and more person fundraising event each January for the local orphanage of 75 children. I had been doing so for 7 years and prior to that volunteering for anything at the orphanage. The kids are pretty special.
I am now involved in the local animal spay/neuter clinic where I volunteer and co-run the annual fundraiser.
My Spanish is quite a bit better than after 2 years of it at Reavis where I learned how to ask where the bathroom is and order a cup of coffee.

g Emma is a Rottweiler and was a 2 month old rescue in Guadalajara, Mexico. She just turned 9 so she is up there in age for a Rottweiler.....a little older than our age of 64 or so.
I get back to Chicago each summer in August to visit my family.
Life is good.
August 2015. I had to put Emma Jean to sleep this past June. I thought no more dogs; too hard to lose them. But a friend in Mexico cornered me January 2016 about adopting a street puppy that had mange so bad that he had no hair. She had gotten him to a vet for treatment and he was ready for a home. I said no puppies; that didn't work very well for me. The next day I brought him home. Named him Cholo which is what the Mexicans call a street person or vagabond. He's a very happy boy. Life is still good.
Moving on to May 2017: fostered a beautiful puppy for 5 months plus June 2017 a little guy I call Larry showed up at my door. Fostered him for 3 months. Both got adopted the same day. Larry is in the neighborhood so he still visits.
November 2017: Fostering 10 month old Lady. She is now part of the family; Cholo and Lady.
