Margie's Story

Life (2013) Life changes - daughter is off in college, just returned from a semester abroad in France. She is a young woman now and I still have to adjust to her being able to handle the world alone. I'm semi-retired, not by choice but by circumstance. The job that I once loved changed, new management, and became a miserable place to be, so I am no longer there. Spending some time to figure out where I want to go - residence-wise and job-wise. Thinking of trying to sell the house - I love it but don't need such a big place for just me and the dogs. Still have the same four pups - and a bunch of fish! (2011) Okay, it's farther along, my girl just graduated high school with an IB degree - great program (International Baccalaureate) and is heading off to college soon. Don't want to put where, but it is in Texas and not too far away, so we can both visit each other without too much upset, but far enough to give a teen growing space! I think she will miss the dogs more than she misses me! :-) My life goes on much the same - work and caring for daughter; it will change now with her going away. Empty nesting. We'll see what happens! (2009) Well, I laugh as I read what I put in here 8 years ago (probably early 2001)when I first entered something in Classmates. Life changes. All of our old lovable dogs are gone to whatever dog heaven is - I'm like Will Rogers, I want to go to a heaven where my pets are or it just won't seem like a good place. I've been through two marriages and two divorces... Talk about life changing! My daughter is now ...Expand for more
16 and just got her driver's permit. She's still a great kid, and still smart. Now she's in the IB program (International Baccalaureate) at her high school. Texas has so many advantages that we didn't have back in Louisiana, unfortunately for Louisiana. She attends a public school, but every one of the students there (over 3,500) gets a PC laptop for the school year. And this IB program is just wonderful. In a way I'm glad that the aftermath of Katrina blew us this way! It's been very good for her, and I have a great job here with an oil and gas company - I'm a safety technician and I love my work. My office is in The Woodlands, which is a beautiful area just north of Houston. That's the great part - I don't have to go into Houston for work every day, AND I love my job! (2001) I erased this one to write 2009 - now I see that as a mistake. Watching progress and change is fun. We were still living in Louisiana when I wrote it. My Pets (2001) Wolfie, Harley Ann & Ollie - dogs Daisy May - cat Tank full of fish My daughter and I like animals! (2009) We now have T-Bone, Yami and Roxi (all mutts!) and new fish. No cats. (2011) We added Blu to the collection - he is a goofy mutt, God knows what mix My Kids See above - one great daughter! My Job (2001)I've just become Mandeville's first Keep America Beautiful Executive Director! Looking forward to it, but there are lots of deadlines ahead. It will focus on a lot of education in the community, which I look forward to doing. (2009) I work for Anadarko Petroleum in The Woodlands, TX.
