Margot's Story
Life
Margot Thomas was born in Detroit, Michigan and began playing clarinet at 7
years old. She had a band called Margot and the Tornadoes and performed in clubs along with many of the Motown artists and musicians like at the Kit Kat Lounge, The Greystone and the 20 Grand. She went to Joy Junior High School and graduated from Central High School in 1971. She is the cousin of Sugar Chile Robinson, a child prodigy in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Margot and the Tornadoes appeared in the June 1971 issue of Ebony Magazine with Sugar Chile.
Margot moved to New York in 1974 and joined an all female band named Tequila
Sunrise. In 1978 Margot joined Isi...Expand for more
s, an all female underground rock band.
Margot was in Isis when she recorded her LP entitled "Move It" in 1979. The
album was recorded in Berlin, West Germany and produced by Karl Schmitz
of CIP Filmproduktions. Margot joined a new wave band sometime after
recording "Move It" and returning to Isis, then lead by Carol MacDonald, who
was formerly a member of Goldie and the Gingerbreads. It was called The Mande
Dahl Band. In 1995 Margot joined the ARC Gospel Choir, an accapella choir that
has toured all over the world. Margot is currently working on gospel CD which
will be entitled" Spirituality". "Move It" on CD is available for purchase online.
