Maria's Story
Hello:
After graduating from Sierra High School in Whittier in 1978, my life changed quite a bit. My parents moved shortly after graduation to Oklahoma and I left to attend Pomona College in Claremont, CA. I graduated as a government and public policy major in 1982. Shortly thereafter, I attended UCLA Law School. In 1986, I graduated and accepted an offer as a corporate/municipal/real estate attorney with a mid size law firm in Chicago. I practiced law for 20 years.
In 2006, the mayor of my community asked me to consider being the City Administrator. My life changed again dramatically after that moment. I embarked on a new career and have loved every moment of it. I love helping and serving people. I love maki...Expand for more
ng a difference.
I have a daughter who graduated from Cornell for her undergraduate degree and Northwestern's Kellogg to get her MBA. My son graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in May 2011. I also have a daughter who graduated from Stanford with a bachelors degree and a masters in statistics from Stanford. I feel very fortunate and blessed to have them and my husband in my life.
In 2020, I moved my life to Florida and took a position as the Bay Harbor Island’s, FL. Town Manager. I love living and working in Florida.
Let me know if you are ever in the Miami area. I would love to catch up with old friends.
I hope everyone is well and hope to see everyone again one day.
