Marianne's Story
Life
Creedmoor State Hosp. School of Nursing '67-'70
USAF '70-'73
Have worked for the VA since '73 - RETIRED MAY 2008
I took a look to review the Bio and thought about what a big chunk of my life I left off previously. I feel so fulfilled. My life is blessed. Although I went through a divorce in 1997 and lost my Mom the same year, God has placed His hand on me!! I am so much closer to Him now than I have ever been in my life.
I'm involved in the Singles' Ministry, Homeless Ministry, and Media Ministry at church. I not only operate a camera but direct the TV program every week. God has developed talents and abilities in me so I could further serve Him.
I also work part-time for a video company out of Springdale AR. I take several trips a year and do
professional videography for them. Have traveled all over the country. We video mainly music events/conventions. It is a blast.
I give God the praise and glory for He is my strength and comfort.
School
Grade school - St. Mary Gate of Heaven - graduated 1963. Went on to high school at Our Lady of Wisdom Academy - graduated 1967. From there it was on to nursing school - Creedmoor State Hospital School of Nursing. Graduated in 1970
Workplace
Although I still practice as a Registered Nurse, I mainly teach now. In 1999, I accepted a job within the VA to teach computer programs to nurses, troubleshoot systems used in the healthcare environment, engage in performance improvement activities, and write educational material for use by the nurses. I love my job but miss the every day patient contact. Of course, I still work with people - just my focus has changed. RETIRED MAY 2008!!!

e working out at the senior citizen's center in North Little Rock, it came to my attention that the center needed CDL drivers. I had gotten my CDL several years ago through the church to drive church buses. Figured I would go ahead and volunteer my time a couple days a week. Lo and behold, it was a paying job with the city. I now drive the medical van and pick up elderly at 4 housing facilities and take them to medical appointments. Although I have only been doing this a short time - I LOVE IT. With the gift of gab and a love for serving, I thoroughly enjoy picking up my old folks. It also gives me a chance to minister to them!
Military
Joined the Air Force after graduation from nursing school. I think it was one of the best decisions I made. After medical basic training at Shepard AFB in Wichita Falls TX, I was stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi MS. From there, I went to Laredo AFB, TX. After my enlistment was over, I got out and pursued my nursing career with the VA. I have fond memories of my time spent in the service. It was a good experience for me.
Places I have lived since graduating nursing school and leaving NY in 1970: Witchita Falls TX, Biloxi MS, Laredo TX, Sherwood AR, Mesa AZ, Kansas City MO, Jacksonville AR.
Countries I have visited: Israel, Germany, Canada, Mexico
Jan 2015 - Someone brought to my attention that I hat I didn't say anything about children. Not sure how I missed it because they are the joy of my life. I have a son - Jimmy - 37 yo married to Kristen. The have a 5yo son Grayson - my only grandchild! My daughter Angela is 35 yo and recently married to Cliff. Although she has no children of her own she does have 3 step-children.
