Marie's Story
When we graduated in June 1970, I had been married for 2 weeks. That lasted for a little over a year. Later, I was engaged to one of our classmates; sadly it did not work out. In the mid 70's I met a Tennessean and in 1979, he proposed over the phone, I moved to Tennessee and we got married. That lasted for 15 years. I have 3 sons ages 29, 27 and 21 (by end of 2009). The oldest, who is married, lives in South Carolina, the next in Ohio and baby still lives in Tennessee. No grandchildren.
I live in a small rural town of 4000. The county is so small that there are no chain stores and I have to travel to the next county to just to go to a Wal-Mart! But we still have a drive-in theater that opens every spring and closes during the winter. I love it when it opens - it's like the announcement of sp...Expand for more
ring and it's fun to go with friends, take a lawn chair, and sit outside and watch a double feature! For several years I worked in this little town as a social worker and really enjoyed helping people. I then worked in Nashville and drove 100 plus miles everyday, round trip. My friends thought I was crazy, but I loved the jobs I had.
In June '09 my job was eliminated. I feel very fortunate that after only 2 months I found my current job. I now work 15 minutes from home - that's 2 hrs and 30 minutes of travel time eliminated and handed back to me. What will I do with the time?
In 1992, I went back to Richmond to care for my dying mother and walked around the old alumni - lots of changes and lots of great memories.
I would love to hear from former Classmates and maybe someday make it to a reunion.
