Marie's Story

Life Hi! After several stops in cities east of the Mississippi, I now live in Ferndale, Michigan. The city is located just north of Detroit - it you have heard of the movie "8 Mile" we are just on the other side of that famous dividing line. "We" consist of my husband George, three children and a large beast. The beast is a 200 pound male mastiff named Mali who is large, brown, smelly and very loyal; he is not, however, very bright. My two older children Rob and Will, are in college and my youngest, Sara, is in High School. We are parish members of the National Shrine of the Little Flower, in Royal Oak Michigan. iest by the name of Fr. Coughlin wo had a radio show originating from this parish. While the church still stands as a testimony to his skill as a fund raiser, much of his rhetoric has (thankfully) falled by the wayside. Now about me ... After many years in Human Resources and Labor Relations, when I hit the half century mark I made some changes in my life. I am now a registered nurse working in physical rehabilitation. I love my new career and am beginning work on an MS in Nursing. Life has certainly taken me in a very different direction that I imagined as I walked out of Convention Hall in June of 1970.
