Life
Hi to anyone who might be reading this. I don't know if anyone remembers me - most peope just remember me by my yellow '74 Camaro. What great adventures I had in that car! Well, today is my birthday and I am 47 years old. It's hard to believe we're approaching 50, isn't it fellow class of '76-ers! The past 30 years have gone by so fast, and yet so much has happened. Where to begin? I've been married for 16 years and have one beautiful daughter. I guess another big thing that happened to me is that I have been a breast cancer survivor for 4 years now. Before all that happened, I might have been recognizable by others from the class of '76; but with chemo etc. I gained weight and lost all my long hair! Of course the hair is back now, but I keep it short. And the weight...well, let's don't go there right now, OK?!! As for college, I graduated from UTA - finally! - in 1988 after quitting school for several years and changing majors several times. Now, I still live and work in Arlington. though I've been right here in town for the last 30 years, I rarely if ever run into any old SHHS classmates. This town has just grown so much...too much, I think. I guess in looking back, I would have to say my life so far turned out quite differently from what I thought it would back in 1976, but I can't complain - I have a great life, and God has blessed me beyond measure. If there's one thing I've learned, it is that each day we all have a choice. We can choose to be negative and miserable, or we can choose to see the positive side of things, to enjoy our blessings, and to live fully. I choose life...and because God is good, I still have my life today, on this 47th anniversary of my birth. Happy Birthday, me!! --Marie
Update - Now we're approaching 60 y'all!! How did that happen?! Well I'm still here and I can say that not a lot has changed from what I wrote 12 years ago, except the long hair is back. I haven't been on Classmates for a long time; would love to hear from any old friends who still get on Classmates.
