Marietta's Story
Hi there-
Howdy Mustangs. I was part of the class of 1968. I now live and work in Champaign, IL.I have worked at UIUC and three community colleges over the course of my career. I really like the diversity of the area and the array of arts and entertainment. I work with students for a living... I'm a social justice, community college fan and a life long learner. Believe it or not, I am trying to finish yet another degree...but that's mainly to keep myself entertained. I enjoy the challenge of working with students, it keeps me young at heart. My IPhone is pretty reflective of my eclectic taste. I have music from Frampton, Aretha, and Sting to Luther, Jill Scott, Glee and Coldplay..
I was married for 15 years to my college sweetheart and when we both worked in corporate we moved all over the state and the country. As part of my divorce, I re-took my maiden name. My kids, who are very lovely grown people, have both returned to Illinois. My son moved back from Colorado to attend college, and now we live together with two very cool cats. He has converted me to a cat...Expand for more
person. My daughter who lives in another area, just finished her second masters. She is a terrific educator and writer and divorced mother of three terrific sons. My wonderful grandsons.
I love retail therapy, also known as shopping, museums, and love all kinds of movies (especially comedies and science fiction. I am a life long Dr.Who fan (so geeky). I enjoy swimming, water aerobics, yoga, fishing, and veggin' on sunny beaches, Bahamas, Cancun (plan to do more traveling. I am a tried and true football fan, especially the Bears, Steelers and Illinois.
Early February of 2013, I went on the Ideal Transformations diet because my orthopedic doctor was talking about replacing my knee and suggested I lose a little weight. Well, first week of July I made my goal and then lost a few more pounds for a grand total of 50 LBS. I feel great, lots of energy, no knee replacement needed and didn't mind buying a new and much smaller sized wardrobe.
I feel blessed and grateful for my life and hope that I can continue to be of service to others. Hope all is well with you and yours!
