Marilee's Story
June, 2009
Jerry got out of the hospital a few days ago. I almost lost him AGAIN -- this time to WEST NILE VIRUS!!!! His brain is still waking-up and re-organizing itself from being in a coma for apx a week. It's been a scary, strange, yet interesting experience on the wonders of the human brain.
We are in the process of moving. The house next door to my parents become available. This will make it soooooo much easier for me to help care for parents & hubby, & my brother-in-law. It is darn near impossible to be in two (or three) places at once.
I recently completed an accident investigation for the family of 19 year old Danielle Winquest. She hit a light pole going about 35 mph in Seabrook, TX 5-17-2009. Three good Samaritans pulled her from the burning car, but Danielle's injuries were extensive and she did not survive. However, her liver and kidneys saved two other people. If you teach driver's ed, or have a teen that drives too fast, I will send you photos of the car. (But not the victim.)
I never had children of my own, buy Jerry had a grown daughter when we married. I'm now a great-grandma 3 times over. The most recent is a boy named "Rilyn" named after MaRILYN Monroe. What is it with kids' names these days?
Mary Miles-Warren was in a very bad motorcycle accident about a year ago. She was riding with her husband when they were in an accident on Loop 197 near the 9th street intersection. Her husband had to have his left leg amput...Expand for more
ated above the knee. Mary taught ballet. I hope she is back teaching by now. Because Mary is a local celebrity, progress reports on her condition are difficult to get. Perhaps someone reading this can update the rest of us from time to time. We all wish her & her Mr. Warren the best.
Marjorie Owens is in a nursing home. Poor little thing was in car crash and her darn shoulder strap damaged her brain stem. She is in a semi-vegetative state. Prognosis unknown. (At least unknown to me.) Now it is OK for short people NOT to wear the shoulder strap. If there ever was a case to justify stem cell research & to put the technology into practice, this is it! All our love to Marjie. Updates on our dear Majorie would be most appreciated.
Ed Hendrick (Janet Hendrick's dad) recently broke his hip, had surgery and is doing well. He should be home in a few weeks (~ end of July.)
If anyone wants a face-to-face reunion, contact Kathy Eads. All details should have her approval. She is a natural leader.
Please feel free to email me w/o going through the middleman if you like. My email address is marilee_stripling at comcast dot net. (Get it?) I have a Class of '72 Memorial List. It is incomplete and needs work, but if you want a copy, send a pre-addressed envelope to me at 909 Mainland Drive, Texas City, TX 77590-5528. I only ask that you not post the list on any public site, and help me update and correct the data as required.
I love you all,
Marilee
