Marilou's Story
In remembering those years at SSHS, 1968-1972, it was YOU that made it memorable and YOU that have been an intregal part of my life ever since.
To Jane (Fuller) Rogers: We were best of friends from third grade until our sophomore year when you moved away. Even though our contacts have been sporatic since then, my heart is still entwined with yours; it's like time and distance have not separated that bond that was formed so long ago. Thank you, Jane, for the pure gift of friendship, then and now.
To Rick Bettger: You were my first-ever date in my sophomore year and you treated me like a princess from that point on. Not only did you lavish me with gifts ( which you frequently placed in my school locker), but you also helped teach me to drive ( in the high school parking lot no less), took me out to eat during lunch hour, gave me a surprise 16th birthday party (across the street from the high school at Lynda Porter's), and because you were three years older, were the impetus for my Dad making you a list of do's and don't's as long as your arm. In the midst of it all, you showed me what a gentleman was like and became a true friend. Thank you for the care and love you gave to me. I look forward to seeing you in Steamboat in September for the first time in 25 years.
To Carl and Marilyn Ramunno: our good...Expand for more
family friends and two of my high school teachers. Marilyn was not only my typing teacher, but also a dear friend of my Mom's. They loved the outdoors, hiking, collecting cones for Christmas wreaths, running a girl scout troop, and raising their families. Carl was my drafting teacher, but he was also closer than a brother to my Dad. Hunting, fishing, and hiking were among their favorite passtimes and they were rarely seen apart doing them. At sporting events, my Dad would be in the stands as a spectator and Carl would be at the edge of the wrestling mat as a coach and mentor to those on his team. Both Carl and Marilyn are gone now, but they leave behind their five children (Carolyn, John, Tony, Joe, and Kathy), their families, and an indelible mark on SSHS and on our family.
To Chris Ursich, Marlene Iacovetto, Pam Waggoner, Koleen Campbell, Lynda Porter, and Faye Cary - fellow cheerleaders. What a wonderful two years we had together! And talk about togetherness. We had alot of it - everyday after school practicing and making pep rally signs and then on weekends at games, home and away. Some of the best memories of my high school years. Thank you, each and every one of you for making those years so special. I love you all. Marlene, we miss you.
