Daughter: Jill Kristen Behrman, born 1980, Graduate, Bloomington High School South, 1999; Jill disappeared May 31, 2000 while on a morning bike ride near our home in Bloomington, IN. Jill, age 19, had just finished her Freshman year at Indiana University. Nearly three years later (03/2003) her remains were discovered in a remote wooded area near Paragon, IN (Morgan Co.). John Myers II was indicted in April 2006 and found guilty of murder in Morgan Co. (10/2006); sentenced to 65 yrs. (12/2006) by Judge Christopher Burnham. Oral arguments were heard by the Indiana Appellate Court (2007); verdict upheld and the Indiana Supreme Court found no grounds for hearing the case in 2008.
As a memorial to Jill, Jills House, a home-like residence serving cancer patients at the Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute (MPRI) near the IU Cyclotron opened in July 2008. When Indiana University closed the IU Cyclotron, Jill's House also closed. The facility re-opened and is now Jill's House Memory Care and Assisted Living along with the Jill's House Intergenerational Pre-School.
The 'Jill Behrman Color the Campus 5K Run/Walk' (formerly the 'Jill Behrman Run for the End Zone 5K Run/Walk') is held each fall in Bloomington and supports the Jill Behrman Emerging Leader Scholarship through Campus Recreational Sports at IU. The JB5K also provides support for personal safety and awareness programming through the year on the campus of IU Bloomington. The 2018 JB5K will be held Sat., Oct. 27, beginning and ending at the Student Recreational Sports Complex (SRSC); for details see: recsports.indiana.edu/special-events/jb5k
