Marilyn's Story

I live in Tulsa...always Tulsa (except- there was that time I moved 45 minutes from home...that didn't last but 3 months)! My family is in Tulsa and I could never move away from my Mom! Someday maybe, I will move from this changing weather to somewhere warm. I love the sunshine on my face, toes in the sand. (I could sell sunglasses under a little hut on a beach in Mexico and be happy the rest of my life)! The wildest thing I ever did in school was when Crystal and I stayed out all night one time (one time)...it was an eventful night from having a flat tire, to our friends mooning people, hitting the old Wal Mart building and tearing the rubber off my dad's bumper (thank you Kevin, you were NOT an "excellent driver")! Breaking the ashtray! Hangin' at Brookside, and oversleeping the next morning (we almost go caught)!I also had a party when my parents were gone out of town. I did NOT have a good time! I was too busy chasing people around with a trashbag to put "beverage" cans in...making sure that no one was having sex in my parents bed, etc! They found out about the party (even though the house was cleaner when they returned than before they left)! Someone had put a bag of ICE in the FREEZER! I never did that again! I also spent the night with Kim Hooker once, we went to see the midnight movie(my mom would never have let me stay out that late)! We saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Threw the rice, toast and all! I hope old friends and classmates remember me as being a loyal and trusted friend. I was a bit on the shy side (to those I did not know very well)...but I was pretty goofy with those people that I knew. I'm much more outgoing now and never MEET a stranger! I love people and I'm still pretty goofy, but also have a complex serious side to me. Depends on my mood. I planned on being a famous country singer...and I did sing, had my own band, but when my dad died of cancer, I eventually stopped singing, then had my first child. Now we all enjoy karaoke and sing a lot on the car! The "Story Wizard" wants to know: How do I blow off steam...I slam doors and cabinets, anything that makes a loud noise! Haha! I'm currently in Sales...(Outside Sales)..I spent many years in the family business and in other companies along the way, working in an Admin position...found out that I HATE that...and went into sales. Lovin' it! I enjoy meeting new people and establishing new friendships (Like father, like daughter). I'm going back into the ole' family buisiness...wish my dad were here to see me now! Regarding Hero's: My dad, is my hero, by far...I miss him terribly. I wish so much that he could have been here to see the woman that I have become...seen the child that he molded, so much like himself, yet I never even realized until after he was gone. We would butt heads so often and I would argue with him, but it's that same stubborness & determination that has pulled me through many rough times in my life, and helped me to achieve many things. He would always leave someone with laughter and was so compassionate, he taught me how to give, he taught me empathy and sympothy. He taught me how to stand up for what I believed in and "What's right, is right!" He instilled values and taught me that a reputation is not something you can ever restore once its tarnished...he taught me goodness and mercy. I strive everyday of my life to be like my father, in him I saw Jesus. The one person from my past that I would like to see again? I guess many friends that I have lost contact with over the years. Friends that I shared times with, laughter and tears or secrets! Life goes so fast, we lose track of time and friendships that we once treasured...I want those back! I currently watch a lot of TV (due to a recent surgery, I've been stuck at home) I enjoy Big Brother, American Idol and starting to get burned out on Law & Order/CSI, etc! Too much TV is rotting my brain! I NEED OUTTA HERE! My obsessions: ORDER! A clean house...no clutter (whatever, like that's gonna happen with all these kid...Expand for more
s in the house)! I do get testy when things are messy. Oh, and I hate slow drivers! I am always in a hurry, So if you see a red mini-van comin up behind you, scoot over! Haha! Someday I will have my sports car back! My biggest surprise in life is who I wound up marrying. Someone I knew long ago (back in the 80's), big hair and disco! He was/is a great dancer and even taught me a few fancy spins! Pistachio's (back in the day)! If I could improve my home...IT WOULD BE BIGGER, MUCH MUCH BIGGER! My dream house would be: one of the old houses, like 100 years old. Mansion-like, Lots of windows and beautiful woodwork and crown molding. A room for each kid, a gameroom, a workout room, a sewing room, an office, a sunroom (lots of storage, a wrap around porch with beautiful flower gardens and roses everywhere! Plenty of room to have friends and family over. A spacious yard for kids to run and play. (Too bad that famous country singer thing didn't work out)! Haha! If I had $100 million, I would buy that house, I would obviously take care of my family and invest it. I would also give, I believe in helping others who need help, the reward of helping others in need is a feeling like no other. Some of the questions on this Story Wizard crack me UP! My first crush?! Scott Rogers was my first real crush...and my first kiss! We used to play hide and seek with other neighborhood kids and hide together so we could kiss! That was 6th grade. About clothes and shopping. I hate to shop. I despise the mall. I don't like the crowds, and hate trying on clothes. If I like it, I buy it...if it doesn't fit. I take it back...(eventually). I wear what I like, I don't really care what the "style" is or what other people are wearing. I've always kinda been that way. (80's is still my fave decade)! I loved the big hair and high heels! Love the funky dresses and lace gloves (old Madonna attire)! Of course, I had time to "primp" back then. I even seperated each eyelash with a safety pin. Those were the days! I never really had a "weird" job. I attempted working at a nightclub as a coctail waitress once (when I was 21). I was terrible! I didn't know what I was doing! I didn't know who to order drinks, I didn't know what most of the liquor was even called. I was great at carrying the tray over my head though! I did like the little playboy bunny type outfit we wore, it was pretty cute, but those fishnet hose hurt like crazy! (again, those were the 80's...before children). I would not be caught dead in that thing now! (Mom and Dad were not too happy about that job either)! One of the oldest childhood memories I have includes Susie Blackketter. We lived up a hill and it was great fun to ride our bikes DOWN the hill. I was riding on the handlebars one time...she told me to stop shaking from side to side...did I stop (of course not)...we crashed and I flew across a sidewalk and hit a tree, she fell over and boy was she mad at me! She did carry me home one time... bloody foot and all, after I was fell off of my skateboard with no shoes on. I was always the big baby! We had a big cardboard box (refrigerator size), we wanted to make a "playhouse" with a little door, ya know, a couple windows...Well, we could not get the scissors to cut through the cardboard, so I (being the bright one), said "I will bite the scissors from the other side" "Do NOT push down on the SCISSORS". I was spittin' out blood, she did, she cut my tounge! (Uh, hum, "Here's your SIGN!" Susie and I grew up together since we were 4, so I have many memories...I love and cherish each one! Well, except for the one where she SPIT on ME! We're still great friends. Nothing in this world is greater than time spent and memories made with family and friends. Each and every one of mine have touched my life in a special way and I will carry that with me always. For my friends, those I talk to everyday, and those I have not spoken to in years...life goes so fast, let's not let time pass away, let's keep in touch. Peace~
