Mario's Story
Life
Moved away to San Juan, Puerto Rico the day after our graduation but came back to Miami after one year. Love this city! Graduated college from FIU and met my wonderful wife Giselle (Gables grad '78). We have 3 children and all have graduated from college (I feel old). My life has been great, thank God, and have no regrets. We are dedicating ourselves to serving others after having such a blessed life.I just hope that everybody is doing well and wish everyone the best of luck. I believe our times at Gables were the greatest! Go Cavs! Take care and stay in touch...Mario
School
Had a crush on Karen like 100 other guys but she wouldn't look my way. Great memories with the "canalla". Teachers that inspired me: Mr Rosinek with his liberal views taught me how to be objective and not to look soooooooo far right. nguage and may God rest her soul. Mrs Gonzalez became a best friend at detentions. Pep rallies, Gables vs Miami High football, Ed McCarthur and Gables basketball, beach parties at Crandon Park, Cabanas and Tahiti Beach are unforgettable memories...
College
Miami Dade College class of '76
Florida International University class of '79
Harvard Law (just kidding!!!)
Workplace
Throughout my college years I worked full time at the law firm of Myers, Kaplan, et al... and went to college in the evening. I thought I'd never graduate, but I did. After college, I worked for Johnson & Johnson (Tylenol) as a Territory Manager. I worked there for 10 years and then I was offered the opportunity to start my own business as an agent for State Farm Insurance. Have my own office in South Miami for the last 24 years and plan to retire as soon as I can, which will probably be never.
Military
Lucked out of Vietnam by getting high "lottery" numbers, thank God, three years in a row.
