Marisa's Story
Life
After high school, I attended IU, graduating in '95 with a degree in Education, after which I moved to Sacramento, CA. There I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English and history. After a few years in California, my husband (Greg Simmons, JHS '88) and I decided to move back to the midwest to be closer to family, so I got another teaching job in the Detroit suburbs, where I stayed for a year. ot in the teaching field--proofreading. I did that for a
little over a year before my son Joel was born in November of 2000. My daughter Reva was born in February of 2003. In August of 2006, we moved back to the Lafayette area and now live in West Lafayette. Currently, I am a stay-at-home mom and Greg works at Purdue. I plan to go back to school in fall of 2008 when Reva starts Kindergarten to pursue a master's in speech pathology.
