Marjorie's Story
I moved to New Hampshire in 1983 and have never looked back. Over the years I have done many different things. For almost 10 years I had the oppurtunity to work for a
non-profit assisting adults with developmental disibilities. I was the Residential Director for several programs including Enhanced Family Care and Independant Living. I then consulted with the New Hampshire Division of Mental Health and Human Services, and now spend time working with High School kids teaching research skills, leadership/team building and at times providing Special Education support. I have three wonderful daughters ages 25, 22, and 11 years old. My oldest daughter moved to the San Francisco area to ...Expand for more
work with children as an Autism Specialist. She is also a Residential Director for five group homes in the Bay Area. My second daughter now lives in Portland,OR and is persuing a career in dental hygiene. My youngest daughter is a 7th grader at a local Waldorf school and the world is her oyster!
This year I had the oppurtunity to collaberate with Ishmael Beah, former child soldier from Sierra Leone and New York Times best selling author of A Long Way Gone. We worked to educate local high school students about the issue of child soldiers throughout the world and fund raise for three charities: Schools for Salone, Books for Africa, and UNICEF.
