Mark's Story
Life
After high school, I headed out to California for college. Spent my summers hitch hiking up and down the west coast. Highway 1 between San Francisco and Mendocino is one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline anywhere in the world.
After graduating from the Univ. of California, Santa Cruz I spent a winter working and skiing at Squaw Valley. By the next summer I had landed a job as an actuary (thank you Mr. Klessel!) in San Francisco. I loved living in the city and going out with my friends. I left San Francisco after four years to attend grad school in NYC. After graduating, I traveled for several months through New Zealand, Australia and Asia. Finally, I moved back to northern California and have worked ever since in Silicon Valley. I met my future wife the evening I was out celebrating my 30th birthday. We've been married for 10 years now and have two girls.
