Mark's Story
After I graduated from Hanahan, I attended Trident and obtained my Associate degree in Electronic Technology. In June of 1982, I moved to New Orleans, LA and took a job as a customer service representative for Lanier Business products (repair of recorders, copiers, dictating equipment). In 1983, I obtained a job as an Instrumentation Technician in the commercial Nuclear Power industry and I have maintained my career in that field now for over 25 years. While in Louisiana, I continued a dating relationship in Goose Creek and in Oct. of 1984, I married Candace Ruth Thomas from Goose Creek High '81. Two weeks after moving her to New Orleans we moved to Baton Rouge. We lived in LA until April of 1992. Then, we moved to Wilmington, NC which is where we are today. However, we are in the process of selling our home in NC to move back to SC. I have taken a transfer to one of our plants in Hartsville, SC.
Although my career/job is in the nuclear power industry, my life is dedicated to God and the message that he loves each and every person to the extent that he sent his son, Jesus to die for our sins so we can have an etern...Expand for more
al relationship with Him. My family and I are very active in our church and community. My wife and I have two boys. One is nineteen, Luke, and the other is thirteen, Andrew. Luke is a lot like my wife in that he thinks a lot and is somewhat reserved. He is attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach and starts his sophomore year in the Fall of 2009 to Study Air Traffic Control. Andrew, on the other hand is more like me I have learned. One thing for sure, he doesn't seem to meet many strangers. I love my family and gear my own daily life around how God would have me live and provide for my family. I try to live my life based on priorities. First, God! (and the Godly life is fun). Second, my family! (and they keep me hoppin'). Next, the needs of my church and community! (a never ending task). And finally, myself (although many would say that I put myself first or second because I am doing what I want to do). God has been thoroughly good to me and my family. I praise Him and give him glory for what he is doing in my life. And I am looking forward to the next fifty or sixty years, if He would see fit!
