Mark's Story
It was a dark and stormy night, oops -- wrong story.
I took my time getting thru college at RIT (George Bush and I had a lot in common), but finally graduated with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. Got married shortly after that to a class of '70 Bishop Kearney girl I met at California Brew Haus. We dated for 5 years before I finally asked her to marry me. We are still married after 43 years. We built a house in Webster and started a family. Our two daughters are in their late 30's. Our oldest daughter is a Pilates instructor and personal trainer in San Diego. Our youngest daughter got married to a great guy on the beach on the Outer Banks, NC in 2009. Fantastic reception afterwards at our niece's brew pub in Kill Devil Hills -- Outer Banks Brewing Station (shameless plug!). Our youngest moved back to Rochester and we now have a three year old grandson. My wife was a teacher's aide for BOCES working with special needs kids at one of the high schools here in Webster. She also worked at the local BJ's and it seems like she knows everyone in Webster. Whenever we go someplace, there's always someone that recognizes her. She retired from school and BJ's three years ago and now visits our grandson and plays pickle ball every chance she gets. I retired from designing...Expand for more
electrical systems for special machines in 2017 after doing what I loved for 41 years. We bought a place on Honeoye Lake just before I retired and between our place in Webster and "The Lake House", I have plenty of projects to keep me busy and the fringe benefits of going fishing whenever I want and catching great sunsets.
I worked as a controls (electrical) engineer at Delco Products / ITT / Valeo for 25 years until the plant closed. Before it closed, I spent 7 months in Mexico transferring production lines down there. After that, I designed electrical control systems for stacker cranes and material handling systems for a company in Victor . Then I finished my career at another company in Victor designing controls for special machines for automotive applications (one of my lines puts together a high output 10 speed transmission for Ford and Chevy trucks) and a couple of black ops programs I can't talk about for a certain prominent glass company south of Rochester. I miss the folks I worked with, but don't miss the deadlines and the commute back and forth.
If I'm not working on projects at the Webster house or down at the Lake House in Honeoye, I'm at the Y doing aerobics or body conditioning classes.
Drop me a line here on Classmates if you want to get in touch.
See ya,
Mark
