Mark's Story
Life
I haven't really lived in Michigan since I graduated from U of M in 89. Now, I work for MSU. I live in Virginia with my wife and sons, and I work in Washington, D.C.
After Michigan, I worked as a legislative assistant for Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur from Ohio for three years. I then moved to Boston to attend law school at Boston College Law School. While there, I spent six months studying at Kings College and working at Jones Day in London, England.
I then moved back to DC, and spent three years working for Jones, Day as a litigation attorney, before finally joining a lobbying firm. I spend my days convincing Congress to send spacecraft to Mars, build science labs at universities and buy research aircraft. Its actually ...Expand for more
a lot of fun.
I then got the chance to combine all of my interests when i started representing the University of Michigan as the Director of Federal Relations for Research. I travel back to Ann Arbor about once a month - which makes seeing the family a little easier. Update - As of April of '06, I have left UofM and I am now the Associate Vice President for Governmental Affairs for Michigan State University.
My wife and I met after law school, and we have been married about 9 years. Four years ago we had our biggest event yet - the birth of our son Kyle. He is already growing incredibly fast. And as of Nov. 2005, we have a second son - Jacob who is just as adorable as his big brother.
Hope everyone is happy and healthy.
