Life
Hey Minutemen!
Hope you are all healthy, happy and fat and sassy. I haven't moved from the East Bay and have a nice house in Walnut Creek. After CHS I went from DVC to Sac State for a BS in Business/Marketing. I worked a while then went to grad school at the U of Wyoming where I got an MS in Marketing. I then went into the world of advertising as a research analyst. After 5 years in advertising I went into brand mgt with a company called Honey Hill Farms. We did nicely introducing the first super premium frozen yogurt in the pint category. I also coached youth football for 3 years with some buddies from Diablo, Clayton and De la Salle. We had 2 undefeated seasons and TWO of our kids went to the pros! I then went to work for the British Govt as their US food and beverage marketing specialist. I went to London several times a year and then worked throughout the 4 countries within the United Kingdom. My job was to develop marketing plans for British food and beverage exporters. This was the job of jobs I must say. The highlights of this position included presenting my US food & beverage sector reports at Britain's largest food/drink trade show and introducing my mum (she's from England) to Princess Margaret at the Consul General's private residence in SF. It was very memorable because my mom met Princess Margaret when she was a wee lass during WWII. I then worked for several years for Earthgrains (now Sara Lee) as a Category Analyst and am now a marketing manager with a large beer wholesaler in the City. I also have taught under grad and graduate level marketing as an adjunct professor beginning at DVC then going to Golden Gate University and finally to U of Phoenix. money I have had the luxury of traveling throughout the UK, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Holland, Australia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. While in Australia I was on an 8 day live-aboard dive trip that included a serious shark dive (I've got some cool pics) and I went on safari while in S Africa.
I am super happy to state that I got married to the most gorgeous lady on the planet! I proposed to her in 70 feet of water in Salt Key's Shark's Nest. It was a total surprise to her when I wrote the words on an old fashioned dive slate with a lead pencil. She wrote, "Yes!" on the back! I got it on Go Pro too! We were married at Donner Lake on 9/12/15. Oh, I'll have to tell you the story about her engagement ring which I had made from a Lunati valve lifter out of my '69 Shelby's 428 Cobra Jet....
I still have a passion for Shelby Mustangs and have two GT500s which FORD recently did an article on. Check it out at: MyFORDmagDOTCOM, then enter Colburn in the search box. I enjoy jogging every day and still manage to hit the gym about 4 times a week.

This book is filled with marketing case histories applicable to craft beer, spirits, wine, non acls and those wanting to learn the distribution beverage business. I have also been published by the American Marketing Association, was published in March 2017 for my craft beer article by the organizers of the International Food Exhibition and was the keynote speaker at the 2016 International Beer Festival in San Francisco at the historic Fort Mason pavilion.
