Mark's Story
Life
After college, I moved to Hawaii and have been here ever since. Married Dianne Matsuoka and we have three kids--Leigh 30, who is an office manager in Honolulu, Tyson--currently between jobs--is 26, and Brent, 23, is a computer programmer. Both Brent and Tyson live here on Maui where Dianne and I are located. Both are independent and live on their own. We have a grandchild, Kaleb,from Tyson. Kaleb is 2.
College
Entered Oregon State University in September 1967. Transferred to University of Washington 1968. Pledged Beta Theta PI fraternity--left before becoming an active member. Graduated in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning in 1971. I remember working full-time and studying more than anything else--becoming independent was a huge goal at that time.
Workplace

e hotel industry in maintenance and bell services. After a few years entered the healthcare industry where I worked for 29 years. Entered graduate school in 1979 and graduated in 1983 with an MBA from the Unviersity of Hawaii. Worked for a 12 facility acute-care state-widehospital system. Recently retired after a long career as an executive. Happy to have left the organizational "rat race" behind. Health care is a brutal industry in which to try to make a buck these days. For the last 6 years I have taught management courses to University of Hawaii undergraduates as an Adjunct Professor of Business Administration--part-time during summer sessions. I am now a lecturer in Business Administration for the University--part-time in my retirement. Love doing it--time to pass on what I have learned that may be of value to others.
