Life’s
I retired on March 30, 2009, after almost 40 years of criminal defense work, most as a public defender. I am married. My wife retired in 2017. She was a speech therapist in private practice working mainly with preschoolers. I have 2 children. My son, Brad, graduated from UC Berkeley & the University of Southern California School of Law. He is a sole practitioner in criminal defense, specializing in appellate work. He lives in a townhouse in the Silverlake region of LA. My daughter, Daniella (Dani) graduated from Washington University in St. Louis. She spent a semester at the University of Capetown in South Africa. ince then she worked for the Gerontology Society in DC for two years., She recently graduated from UCLA School of Law and now specializes in elder law at Bet Tzedek in LA. She married Kelvin Tran in 2020 and they had a baby girl, Auden (Audie) on 10/15/21.
I graduated from Penn State.
After college, I went to Pitt law school. Upon graduation in 1971, I moved to Los Angeles and began working with a small civil law firm in Claremont. I began doing some criminal cases and decided that I enjoyed doing that more than the civil work I had been doing. I then became a public defender and did criminal defense work until my retirement in 2009. Since 2012 I have been volunteering at Wise and Healthy Aging in Santa Monica in their alzheimer's program.
