Mark's Story

Life I've been married to Tracy Haub (college friends will know her, since we were in the same class) for almost 25 years. We have two (now TEENAGE! Yikes!) children, a son and a daughter. After a number of years working in broadcasting as a radio journalist covering technology, I have decided I no longer care how many people recognize my name or the sound of my voice, and I have realigned my life to focus more on my family and what I can do for them. I smile more often, now. Workplace After working in various technical positions (Programmer, Technical Writer, Systems Analyst, Network Engineer, Computer Consultant, etc.), I joined a weekend radio show on computers that eventually went five nights a week and became my full-time occupation. After 12 years with Computer America, I moved on to the Advanced Radio Network, producers of "Into Tomorrow with Dave Graveline." I work for the network booking guests and supporting affiliates, and I also appear on the show with Dave each Sunday afternoon. The show is heard on more than 100 radio stations, both XM and Sirius satellite networks, and the Armed Forces radio network. Our audience is estimated at one and a half million listeners each week. That... is a lot...Expand for more
of geeks! :-) EDIT: To update this glittering resume with where things stand in the fall of 2006, I am no longer working full time for the radio network (although I do still write features for them, and I also contribute a weekly commentary on the videogame industry). I would list my primary occupation now as Husband & Father. Is it lame to say "I left to spend more time with my family?" If you think so, then nothing I could say would change your mind. On the other hand, the ones that agree with a decision like that don't need any more convincing from me. DOUBLE EDIT: Updating the resume once again here in the spring of 2009, I've been tapped to produce a radio show originating from the church my family attends in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The show is called "Hope with Tom Hendrikse" and it's amazing, not because I edit it but because Tom is such a gifted communicator. Our church loves its pastor and if you hear him, you'll understand why. We're not on the air yet, but we'll be opening on WAFG 90.3 FM in Broward County and going on from there. My wife and kids are excited that dad has his own stuff to do again, and thus hope springs that he'll stop sticking his nose into their business. Fat chance! :)
