Mark's Story

Life HI I am Mark, I attended Saint Josephs, Absegami High School and Norristown High in PA, then went on to make a career of the Army where I spent 6 years in Germany, participated in the Gulf War of 1991. After joining the military was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg NC where I was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment where I got paid to jump out of perfectly good aircraft. I further went on to marry my Sourthern Bell wife of 29 years, had 2 beautiful girls who are now 16 and 24 years old. I have since been retired from the military on a medical discharge after 15 years of service which I have recieved numerous awards, accommadations and have seen several different countries around the world. After retirement went on to work as a social worker for 7 years at which time I was medically retired with 100% Veterens disability. I now reside in Fayetteville NC right next to Fort Bragg(the greatest Army base for retirees). Feel free to email me and we can chat about our lives and careers. Have a great day!! 7th 1977 in Atlantic City, NJ. Attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon Georgia for 5 months at which time I attended Parachute Training School at Fort Benning, Georgia for 3 weeks. First assignment was with the 82nd Airborne Division where I was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. I was reassigned to Germany where I spent 3 years in a small German village named Phillipsburg with the 3rd United States Field Artillery Detachment(3rd USAFAD), was then reassigned to Fort Knox, Kentucky where I worked as Cadre with the 6/16th Cavalry where we trained Cavalry Scouts, I was inducted into the "Order of the Spur" during my tour. I was then assigned back to Germany with the 2d Armored Division (FWD) in Garlstedt, Germany while assigned here I participated in all three campaigns of the Persian Gulf War and also participated in Humanitarian efforts for the Kurdish refugees in Rafha. I was then assigned back to Fort Bragg where I left the service in September 1992 for medical reasons. I am now receiving 100% Veterans Disability for Service Connnected injuries and issues.
